Plenty of sweetness, so you might need a sweet tooth to really enjoy this whisky. Although I don't feel the sweet Sauternes dominates too much. There's enough room for other flavours and aromas.
    • Nose
Syrupy with a good amount of caramel custard, butterscotch and honey. Also fruity notes of orange peel, nectarine and, surprisingly, some strawberries too. I don't find those too often in a whisky. Extremely gentle, yet voluptuous.
    • Taste
Very creamy and syrupy, with lots of room for those Inchmurrin fruits to shine. Mandarines, grapefruit and tangerines. The fruits mix well with caramel and honey, but there's also a place reserved for spices like ginger and pepper.
    • Finish
Lingers on sweet and fruity notes. Medium in length.

  2. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Strawberry, cherry and custard. Egg cake or perhaps even egg liquor. Caramel, almond, tonic, dough and herbs. With water also tangerine. Typical Sauternes influence, this reminds me more of a Sauternes-matured Glen Els (German) than of any other Scottish whisky. But it has something grain-like in the background as well.
    • Taste
Strawberry, toffee, cherry and spices such as cinnamon. Blood orange, and even more when adding water.
    • Finish
Strawberry, toffee, blood orange and cinnamon. A Littlemill-ish finish.

  3. HammerHead scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Nose: syrupy, sweet fruit treats, loads of toffee, butterscotch, orange, peach, baked apple and apricots

Taste: quite a mouthfull, creamy, clear toffee, caramel, with some honey and vanilla

Finish: medium length, coating your throat with a fudgy sweetness and honey syrup

All in all a very nice fruity and fudgy adventure.

According to some "experts", 2003 has been a great year for Inchmurrin expressions. Well this one perfectly meets the quality level of said year.

If I would have tasted this blindly, I would have guessed a combination of a bourbon and wine cask. As it has been "finished in", I might not be too far from the truth.

Beautiful sweetness; well balanced on a plat full of tropical fruit.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweetness and fruitiness continues in the taste. Mild spices coming in. Everything still in good balance. Warm mouth feeling. In spite of the tropical fruit, I consider this more as an autumn whisky.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long to long. Quality till the very end. Sauternes influence is strongest in the finish.

      Conclusion: No weak spot anywhere.
