      Sweet fruits, plum, pear and mango jelly ... banana and chocolate ... fruit gum ... dried apricots, vanilla, extinct candle ... hint at the animal (24)

    The whisky would have been just great if it hadn't been for a dip in the finish. But the nose and body are somewhat reminiscent of Ben Nevis

      sweet and oily, ripe tropical fruits, mangoes, bananas, lemons and woods
    • Finish

      but the finish against the background of the nose and body loses significantly, the dominance of the acidified wood greatly spoils the impression. In addition to her, there are lemons and dark chocolate.

    I found this one to be very good but a tad boring. It had all the notes I could think of if I had to describe the general concept of whisky to a total stranger, but nothing truly unique. It’s an issue I have with a lot of these single malts mainly used for blending. Still a very enjoyable sipper though.Tasted in the BTC 2017

      Stone fruits. Wood oils. Carbolic soap. Ashy yet not smoky. Fine dust. Honey flavoured sweets. Sultanas.
    • Taste
      Malt. Bitter wood. Seville oranges. Sour porridge. A bit hot. Copper. Green peppers.
    • Finish
      Long. Slightly bitter. Light wood. Wood oils. Hay. White tea.

    My first Braeval. At the moment the highest rated Braeval on WB. Tasted a sample on day ten of the US Blind Tasting Competition 2017. My guess was a Clynelish 18-yo @ 51%.

      Vanilla, fudge, peach, apricot, honey, hay
    • Taste
      Sweet vanilla, oily peach, salt
    • Finish
      Fudge fades, some vanilla, malty, salty

    A good, full-bodied and rich Braeval, showing that this distillery produces whisky that's not just suitable for the big Chivas blends, but that it can also be a very good single malt.
    • Nose
      Some raspberries, accompanied by a nice waxiness, vanilla custard and porridge. Yellow fruits (like ripe banana), as well as some white grapes and a touch of ozone.
    • Taste
      Some raspberries, accompanied by a nice waxiness, vanilla custard and porridge. Yellow fruits (like ripe banana), as well as some white grapes and a touch of ozone.

      Spicy and warming. Finally some honey. Medium in length.

    Tasted as part of the Blind Tasting Competition 2017. My guess was Longmorn.

      Pear, vanilla pudding, pastry, banana and peach. Later more dough. Eventually a whiff of grapefruit.
    • Taste
      Vanilla pudding, pear, peach, pastry, banana and a bit of grass. 
    • Finish
      Pear, vanilla pudding, pastry, caramel, grapefruit and a little nuttiness.
