Whisky Reviews for Glenrothes 1997 JW

Tasting Notes: Nose: Very dry immediately, a lot of wood, polish, dry, with dark chocolate and cocoa. But after a while you can still find a certain fruitiness in the aroma, reminiscent of blueberries, blood oranges and grapefruit. A slightly unclean sulfuric note lingers for a while, but then decreases more and more and gives way to earthy notes, maple syrup and a certain flowery.
Mouth: Here it is even a little more woody, nutty, dark chocolate, briefly with similar fruit, as in the aroma, but which quickly fades. Very dry, with crunchy alcohol, lots of coffee, cocoa and grapefruit.
Finish: Always drier, with plenty of spice, pepper and coffee.
Conclusion: In view of the color I honestly expected in terms of wood and bitterness worse. But since a certain fruitiness can be seen again and again, he has barely got the curve. Definitely only for sherry lovers! https://whiskycuse.wordpress.com/

the first impression is - still a darksherry malt - but it can be more than the mainstream, very creamy - as if you had oil in the glass, well balanced, very soft, hardly bitterness or dryness - still full berry flavor - I like it very much - the Price is quite ambitious for the age, even if it has matured well and looks older
    • Nose
somewhat typical sulfur muff, Silversterknaller with matchstick head, then buttery sweetness, toffee, white chocolate, with red berries, dry balsamic vinegar, very round, no alcoholic stinging
    • Taste
dry, initially sour, tart-sweet-sour currant and raspberries - very smooth, mint, dark chocolate with nougat, rum-nut aroma, very smooth, creamy, oily, you can chew very long
    • Finish
Warming, round, barely dry, milk chocolate with cherry jam - delicate notes of wood - hardly any bitterness
