Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 1997 CA

- For his age quite intense - but not very round - measured by the high alcohol content and age - but almost complacent, the typical Bowmore spice sweetness is hidden behind the barrel notes - the omnipresent bitterness bothers me a little - drinkable but not very tasty
slightly unusual phenolic smoke for a Bowmore, first a little unpleasant stinking bitterness, later dry oak, spicy oily but light woody notes, typical cinnamon and sugar note with cloves, with some vanilla - it smells best - if you never take the nose any longer - then rise also beautiful sweet bright fruits on
sweet, sparkling, salty, slightly smoky notes, nice strong vanilla, slight bitter notes come with the oak, mint - almost eucalyptus spreads cooling on the tongue, with some air on the palate spreads fruit notes - apples, some banana, with each The oak becomes more intense, the white pepper is added, the sweetness becomes stronger, the bitterness unfortunately too
slightly dull, smoky, spicy, slightly tart with some bitterness, oak acuteness, some licorice, warming, slightly alcoholic
- Blind tasting. Nice and fruity Bowmore!
Leather, peaty, citrus and very fruity. Oily - fishy and salt. Later some bitter hops.
Ashes, fruity and spices - pepper. Peat and liquorice.
Malty, vanilla, some caramel and ashes.
- Not very recognisable as a Bowmore in my opinion. It doesn't have a lot of that candy sweetness (wine gum / marshmallow) that I find typical in most Bowmores and it isn't overly salty either. Which doesn't mean I don't like it, on the contrary! 85/86.
Peat, lime, malt, toffee, cheese cake, dark chocolate, straw, sea salt and a little wax. With water some apricot. Towards the end of the bottle ever more toffee and apricot.
Peat dust, lime, orange, toffee, salt and a slight nuttiness. More malty with water.
Peat, lime, dark chocolate and toffee.
- Another fine Bowmore from Cadenhead. Lovely stuff.
Sea shells, salt, carbolic, sweet crab meat, ozone.
sweet barley, sugar, lavender and sizzling sausages.
Long, long and salty.
