      91 91
      Aroma:
pleasant and unobtrusive aromatic smoky, volatile aromas of overripe fruits (not fermented but with a slight acetone note), slightly sweet and spicy, light fruits, hint of honey, slightly creamy, spices, herbs, a little hemp rope. Takes a little time.

      Taste:
First smoke and some ash, then slightly sweet, fruity and spicy, citrus fruits but also a touch of tropical fruits, idea hearty and slightly perfumed. Also here with hemp rope, spices and herbs, wood / oak notes, a hint of coffee. Remains soft, aromatic and very tasty.

      Departure:
initially slightly fruity with citrus fruits, fine and slightly sweet then a little smoky and a little ashy, spices, wood / oak, smoke and ash.

Nose: complex, rewarding nose, starting on smoked salt, coastal hints with hay and seaweed. Also smooth fruity notes: pears, gooseberries, lemons, nice hints of guava. A little menthol, almonds and subtle hints of petrol – great.
Mouth: very good. It’s got most of the tropical fruitiness of the famous 1993-1996s, plenty of grapefruit, passion fruit, hints of cape gooseberries too. A rather moderate peatiness which works for the better here. Leather. Fades on salty notes, chalk and ashy lemons.
Finish: long, with waxy / resinous notes, soft herbs and briny peat smoke.

The big coastal side, the velvety peat and the (slightly tropical) fruitiness are a great match. Lovely whisky, but pricey.
