into a glencairn for round two!! fruiter and peatier than first contact. i think ill put aside til campbeltown festival after tonight. fruits are an odd combination, some unripe mango and papaya, and then ripe banana! The peat is quite vegetal with quite a few herbs - rosemary and sage, Theres also a developing sweet caramel. Theres an ethereal sea breeze drifting in and out of the nose but never settling. Caramel turning to creamy toffee with a little more time. Also some dried fruits. Lovely. And itching to taste it!!!!!
lovely mouth feel. oily and thick and very mouth coating, punchy given its only 43%. peaty ashy and smokey, savoury herbs again and a little wood tannins. restrained dried fruits. the finish is quite dry and astringent, smokey ashy and peaty. Very nice and very good drinker but i think there are some stellar bottlings out there??

Nose: tropical on banana, fresh papaya, lychee?, all fresh with some sweetness to it. Soft earthy peat. Halfway the dram: only banana and the soft earthy peat (86)Pallet: first few seconds the nose becomes the taste and then there comes a blanket of soft smoke blanket rolling over the fruit and devours it.  Which at his turns gets overruled by some earthy peat. But not in the 'boom' way. It's al flowing nicely from one to another. Mouth coating, like it should be. (89)

Fininsh: long, with the banana, papaya on a sweet smokey planket and some traces of iodine. When the fruit disappear there is still the sweet smoke. (89)

The only less good thing to mention: the nose is a bit sharp. The full taste is only granted after 5-6 seconds in the mouth. But then it becomes really beautiful.

It has a good punch to it at 43°GL, the alcohol is very good integrated. Very very quaffable. If this was at CS, it would be a real stunner. It has quite a punch at 43%, and the bottle was open for a time so i think it could be even 40% at this moment.

I really really love this style of Bowmore. A pitty it ain't for sale at a normal price...

    Great old style Bowmore
    • Nose
Extreme Exotische Früchte, Maracuja, frisch, schön süss
Strong tropical fruits, maracuja, freshness, quite sweet
    • Taste
Fruchtig, mastig, süss, untypisch leicht rauchig, dräkig
Stil fruit, full bodied, unlike for Bowmore not very peaty, dirthy
    • Finish
Ah! Hier kommt der Rauch! Hafenwasser, Fischkutter, Ölig Dräckig
Voila-here come the smoke - and peat - what a Dirty Whisky, like on a fishing cutter in the morning after the first catch
