Quite powerful, herbal, some water recommended
    • Nose
      85 85
Peat, herbs, varnish, woody notes, honeydew, some yellow fruits, hints of rubber
    • Taste
      84 84
Oily, little fruity, plum, subtle sweetness, some peat, smoke, herbs, woody, hints of leather
    • Finish
      82 82
Long, burning, herbal, more leathery notes

    • Nose
Crispy french toast with whipped cream and smokey maple syrup; or is it a gooey chocolate rum cake? Malty sugars, old books, and something faintly chemical make for an intriguing and sweet nose. Burgers and pineapples on a gas grill give a clean, meaty, fruity smoke.
    • Taste
Bright and vibrant the first thing that leaps out is just how juicy this scotch is. It’s peaches, tangerines, blood oranges, and sweet red black cherries. It has a full juicy and slightly oily body that coats the tongue and drinks oh so smoothly. Grilled fruits give a hint of the peat and smoke that just lingers in the background, its faint savory notes emphasizing the fruit.
    • Finish
Long and sweet candied fruit with a hint of spice.

Not much peat and these leathery notes from the wine cask really clash with the distillate very much on toffee and cooked fruits, quite sweet.

Absolute top! One of the hottest longrows I know so far!
    • Nose
Sweet and mineral smoke, grapes, citrus notes, there is really a hint of sparkling wine, vanilla, very salty breeze, very fresh, at some point a note comes after sweet cowshed
    • Taste
Very sweet onset, creamy with vanilla and citrus notes, the grapes come back, then slowly warms up, it is slowly becoming mineral and peppery, the smoke is only really present, the oak is rather sweet
    • Finish
Sweet oak, light smoke, extremely creamy finish, the sweetness sticks to the palate

I am not sure if the Longrow spirit needs to be tampered with, and I'm usually not a fan of any type of wine cask (other than sherry), but this is not bad, which actually goes to show you how good Longrow is. Sweet, very sweet actually, and a bit of bubble gum artificialness. Like Sprite that has been sitting around for a couple hours. A bit drying initially, but with water, it's a bit more balanced. The sweetness of the wine is a bit off-putting.
