Universal classic whisky, very dry aroma, malt flavor, at a good discount you need to take more.
    • Nose
Very dry, sweet, woody, malt, hint of beer, dry peel of an orange, peaches, salt or minerality.
    • Taste
Sweet, pepper, apple, tree and malt. Saturated, full-bodied.
    • Finish
      Oakiness and sweetness of fruit.

Excellent whisky for a very good price. Some smokiness and well-bodied, medium finish.

The finish is not very remarkable.  If the finish could be improved, Oban 14 would earn a higher score.  In some ways, Oban seems similar to Clynelish 14, with the addition of the tobacco notes.  The $30 premium for Oban seems a bit exorbitant since it is so close in quality to Clynelish, which is only $50 per bottle.  Oban’s lower production and relative rarity is probably the reason for the price difference.
    • Nose
Tobacco, tea, hazelnut, leather, oak wood, wood oil, and citrus.
    • Taste
Malted vanilla, tobacco, spice, salt water, almond and walnut, a hint of smokiness in the background.
    • Finish
Quite short, with a bit more wood and tobacco, along with a slight vanilla and nut note.

Nose: Very engaging nose, leather, dried fruits, sweet, grainy and a very faint touch of smoke

Palate: Initially loads of cereal and dried fruits, then you get zest and a strong saltiness that mellow together towards the finish. This malt has a real maritime character.

Finish: Medium in length, salty, grainy and a bit bitter at the very end of the finish.

Conclusion: A very nice whisky that packs a strong cereal and fruity punch, even better if you consider it's price range. It's just a pity that diageo chill-filtered it, because without it it could be so much more.
