A nose to die for on this although its not quite as good on the palate. Gretat whisky nonetheless.
Given the strength there's surprisingly little nose prickle. There's just masses of malty toffee and spearmint. It's wonderful to nose. Sweet butter tablet, natural caramel and vanilla, hints of spiced apple and pear pie, geraniums, lawn clippings and pea pods. Amazing. Water intensifies the floral notes until they are leaping from the glass.
Intensely malty at full strength and again there's not much sign of the strength. Maybe a slight soapiness, then the fizzing starts. I love this sensation. More fizzing with water.
Astringent at first, but mouthwatering. Water makes it long, juicy and a little hot.
