Whisky Reviews for Glenlivet 2003

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.15 points

  1. Malthead19 scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

    Color: dark amber

    - you have that directly in the smell and taste
    typical soft, fruity Glenlivet character
    - a really good sherry malt
    - with 60 € / 0.5 L for the super quality and the
    Exclusivity really a great price!
    • Nose
      very intense dark fruits, raisins, through which 60% the smell rises directly into the brain, soft fresh leather, oak
    • Taste
      massive sherry bomb, strong sherry start, a lot of fruit and sherry, very intense and complex,
    • Finish
      long sherry-heavy finish;
      long finish, notes of sherry last a long time

  2. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    I think it's medium good, water tends to ruin the taste, but it gets better in the nose
    • Nose
      sweet, fruity, some oak, almonds, raisins, herbs, the alcohol stings slightly in the nose, becomes more and more floral, pencil-point remains, very minimal glue, furniture polish, with water, more open, tobacco, orange, more exciting
    • Taste
      Oily, sweet, creamy, raisins, then quite dry, orange, oak, dark chocolate, spice, tart, after starting it flattens extremely, overall it comes across quite sharp, here it flattens a little with water, the tart with almonds intensifies
    • Finish
      Nuts, sour, cereals, medium length, with a second sip more sherry in the finish, raisins, better

  3. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    for me this Glenlivet is unusually bitter and I don't like it
    It's over for me, too much of the wood / sherry kills me on the palate
    You can add water at 61.9%, but it doesn't make the malt any better
    • Nose
      Sherry full !!, light lemons, raisins, the alcohol can be touched, plum (must)
      with water: slightly nuts, leather, a chemical note (glue)
    • Taste
      full and strong on the palate
      slightly raisins, spicy, very tart, sherry comes
      with water: nutty, oak, red berries
    • Finish
      Oak, sherry, tart, spicy, espresso, chocolate ~ 70%
      with water: chocolate min 75%, very tart

    Only available at the Distillery in the 0.5 liter bottle; a wonderful Speyside malt!
    • Nose
      dark intense fruits, raisins, berries, leather, oak;
    • Taste
      full-bodied sherry, creamy, oily, typ.Glenlivet-aromas, soft, fruity (berries, raisins), beautiful oak; wonderfully complex;
    • Finish
      long, sherrylastiger departure; long finish;

    From my point of view too much alcohol and still quite young. A few years would do him good!
