For me personally the best Aberlour i've ever tried. Very smooth, coffee, cinnamon spices and brown sugar in the gap. A wonderful smell in the nose - very nice!
The price in relation to the benchmark data is very high, so i needed some time to decide if i really want a second one. But the more i tried it, the more i was convinced...
    Almost 91points.

..but i was regrettably to late.

NOSE: Dark balsamic notes. Concentrated juice of dried raisins. Very complex. Dried tropical fruits as well as dried red fruits. Reaks of old Oloroso. (93p)
TASTE: Very concentrated, intense, fruity, lovely vinous acidity, balck pepper, aniseed, liqorice, (92p)
FINISH: Lovely dry but plush and luxurious tannic finish with lots of baking spices; cinnamon, black cardamom even cloves. (90-91p)
OVERALL: For meditation. Total score 92 points.

This whisky is as dark as the night.
    Fantastic sherrymonster, very yummy.

This whisky is still available at the distillery, only there, for 90 GBP.
Only 2 bottles per person now, after this is being sold for double the price elsewhere....

Out of this world Aberlour! Intense deep sherried sweetness on the nose and old school tanins on the palate. Dried fruits and a long intense finish.

Nice complex and multifaceted. A typical Aberlour. The sherry influence is a little too strong (at least in the finish), but otherwise very well integrated.
Water is not good for him or weakens him. If only then a minimal addition of water.

Rum cherry, cinnamon and caramel dominate. Bitter almonds can also be heard
In the background mirabelle, nut, rum, anise and cookie dough. Almost towards coke or coffee. Some lemon.
You can also hear some alcohol. But definitely makes you want more.
Unfortunately he loses with water and becomes more alcoholic.
    • Taste
      90 90
      Sweet and some spice.
Dark chocolate, coffee (almost goes towards mocha), the lemon gets stronger. The same goes for the roasted aromas. Dark sherry notes still show something of the distillery character.
It becomes a little milder with water and the lemon and seasoning decrease.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium length, mild and dry. Too dry for me personally.
The lemon steps back. The drought dominates. It goes in the direction of plums and dates.

Beautful color, nutty nose, sweet start and gooooood sherry stuff. No bitterness - no tannins. Very nice, but a bit too expensive on the second market (for around 200EUR in 2017) for a kind of not-surprising profile.
