  1. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Sweet fruits, christmas cake, leather, furniture polish, dates, cream, toffee notes on nose.

Spices, pepper, dried fruits, oak dryness notes on taste.

Long finish with spices, vanilla, pepper, oak cask, a little bit honey and chocolate notes.

Quite interesting. So for the age and the price a purchase recommendation. There is much less for more money.
    • Nose
Sweet cherries with marzipan, almonds, leather and tobacco. In addition orange as well as the liveliness of a lemon.
    • Taste
Sweet strawberries almost sugared. The orange spreads just as much honey and vanilla. In addition, there is a spice that occupies the entire oral cavity.
    • Finish
Dry and medium in length. There is nothing left of the sweetness. Instead, dark, bitter cherries. The spice continues to occupy the whole mouth.

Tasted at World of Drinks Zierikzee in a 7 whisky tasting.

Very constraint and shy dram, probably influenced by the previous dram in the line-up.

Price is great for a 23 year old whisky.

    Easily drinkable but lacks complexity.
    • Nose
The specific markers of sherry cask are present, dried fruit, marmalade but also honey, a sweet side very pronounced, too much for me.
    • Taste
It is greedy but honey perceived in the nose takes over the rest, giving an artificial side to this greed. A slight bitterness at the end of the dram gives an astonishing youthful impression in view of the age of the bottling.

Very nice and daring release by North Star Spirits. Hard to find in our neck of the woods, but online it can still be purchased for some 65 EUR, which is a steal!
    • Nose
Wonderful nose on caramel, hazelnuts, plums, raisins, apricots and fresh orange juice. In the background a hint of espresso and some chewing tobacco. If you leave it to breath, it becomes a stew of fruit. Hint of mocha appears. I love it.
    • Taste
It starts creamy and very spicy. Powerhouse on cloves, liquorice and a hint of cinnamon. Again loads of citrusy notes (mandarin!) upholstered with caramel and plums, but also chocolate. All about fruit, not a trace of oak (bar the spices, obviously). Delicious.
    • Finish
Lovely long finish in which all the fruits rear their lovely heads again – mandarin in the lead – before it fades gently on a slight bitter note.
