Whisky Reviews for Deanston 2006 vW

12 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.67 points

  1. Cubey666 scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Nose is sherry driven, quite nutty.
On the mouth it is still somewhat rough and hard spirit driven (as is not uncommon with Deanston), perhaps a bit young.

    • Nose
Vanilla, pepper, spicy and the light sweet sherry scent
    • Taste
Small, subtle sherry sweeten on a spicy complex whisky. Not too sweet, not too heavy but delicious.
    • Finish
Not really long. A kind of herbal bitter linger.

  9. Allandale scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Full body with a little bit dry aftertaste. Good Deanston. Not bad at all.
    • Nose
Fruity and  spicy. All kinds of fruit: orange skin, bananas, plums, grapefruit found. Dark chocolate But also hints of leather and some nutmeg. Wet-cloves?
    • Taste
Again all kinds of sweetness: caramel, fruity, dried fruit: raisins, in the end coffee notes and some candy like nougat. Lovely sweet.
    • Finish
Not long. Medium length. With oranges, peppery notes, nutmeg and dark chocolate.

My first guess wouldn’t be that this has matured in a first fill sherrycask.
    • Nose
Sweet, honey, oranges, chocolate, some leather. Nutmeg, grapefruit, something like balsamico vinegar, tangerines. After a while it becomes a bit creamy, bananas, plums and cloves.
    • Taste
Sweet, caramel, treacle, oranges, plums. Some dried fruits, raisins, pepper, chocolate, coffee and some nougat. Full, rich and slightly drying.
    • Finish
Medium length. Pepper, oranges, some spices, nutmeg and there is chocolate.
