A sample poured blind for me... you can't fool me Laphroiag; I'd know that nose anywhere!

Wow, this is a stellar malt, Eiling Lim is picking some great casks for her bottles!

Wow, thick smoke; mechanical and a little harsh. What's behind it all though; more smoked fish and medicinal notes. In fact, scratch that smoked fish... let's call it smoked fish food flakes. Tar and herring, wet rocks and gooseberries. There's a very fruity note coming up in the centre of it.

WOW! This is Islay perfume! Thick smokey medicinal plasters, bandages, wet smooth rocks and sea spray. Kelp and hints of candied fruit. Some sort of brined lemon and maybe a bit of herbal bouquet garnis. Very soft, very well spoken and well developed malt! An Islay Gem!

Medium in length, loads of rolling peat smoke and briny seashore notes. Sweet malt underneath, hints of grilled scallops and some light ash or book dust. Really tasty stuff.

N- Love the instant sourish citrus with sea shells smoky and umami marinated spicy jellyfish notes. Not quite penetrating to melt the nose, but getting there. Relaxing breezy sea notes intertwined with soft rusty nails, some sweet cereals, cornflakes and coconut oil lurking in between,

P- Pretty solid entry, smoky sphere nestled with sundried tomatoes, dried fruits, ginger and brine. Get thicker with medicinal nuance as well may be wee heavy of sweetness developed overtimes.

F- Medium long, quality sweet and citrus lazing on calm sea smokes.  A graceful one that make you think of Bessie's smiles.

Really nice stuff! It’s certainly the cleanest Laphroaig I’ve yet tried. It has this really light effervescent quality on the nose, which switches to light creaminess on the palate and finish. The youth never crops up as an issue. This would be a really nice bottle to have around to drink and share: it’s so easy to sip, while still delivering complexity and a good whack of Laphroaig peat.

Nose: Clean, effervescent, and instantly recognizable. Tart Laphroaig peat, iodine, wet hay, and dead leaves. Interesting savoury spice notes of chili oil, black sesame seeds, There’s plenty of light fruit sweetness too. Orange sherbet for days. Honey, mirin, lychee, and some plain yogurt. Lightly briny. A heavy floral note of rosemary and heather emerges after another couple of minutes.

Palate: Medium-light texture. Creamy-sweet arrival, before a deep peaty dive. Phenolic, medicinal smoke and iodine. Earthy, nutty malt in the middle, with toffee and caramel sweetness. Plenty of delicate shellfish, maybe in butter sauce. Some fried peanuts and a hint of milk chocolate.

Finish: Medium length. Clean, creamy peat. More shellfish, with just a hint of ash. Sweet citrus (limoncello, lime Mike ‘n’ Ikes) and wax.
