Could have mistaken this one for a sherried Littlemill. Quite a surprise from a not so highly regarded distillery.
    • Nose
Cranberry, sour candy ('zure matten'), blood orange, mocha, raisin, apple syrup and wood. Going towards caramel with water.
    • Taste
Blood orange, cranberry, mocha and Turkish delight. Littlemill-ish.
    • Finish
Cranberry, mocha, toffee and blood orange.

Inchmurrin 14 yo 2003 ‘Law’ (56,3%, OB for The Whiskynerds 2017, sherry cask #17/169-1, 264 btl.)Nose: the same aromatic fruitiness, in a sherried version, with ripe plums soaked in Armagnac, pink grapefruit, red berries and perhaps a hint of passion fruits. A good dose of fresh oak again, giving it a scent of deeply brewed fruit tea. Mouth: fruity and oaky, a style that reminds me of some sherried Irish whiskys, mixing elegance and richness. Cherries and raspberries, grapefruit. Fresh plums and apricots. Hints of old cognac. Subtle spices in the background, and just a tad of drying oak. Quite excellent. Finish: rather long, rather minty, but always with this fruity sherry.Such a pleasant whisky! Really, this reminded me of some of the best sherried Irish whiskys I’ve tried. Wonderful, and probably the best value for money whisky I’ve tried this year.

intense on oak, baked glue, black fruits, chocolate, spicy loose tea
milk chocolate, a coffee mocha at once, velvety, creamy
cooked, macerated and maderised fruits, well soggy raisins
sherry in barrels, very concentrated, cocoa, dark chocolate here, cooked fruits and well soggy on the grape tangerine, date, dehydrated blackcurrant, woody there completes a heady, lively and remarkable palate of intensity, again the mocha minty coffee, custard, intense coffee, spices on aromatic white pepper
which lasts, which remains at the bottom of the glass and on the palate, macerated fruit, woody soaked on the oozing barrel!

This ex-sherry cask takes it up a notch, especially on the palate, where it takes some of that fruity spirit and combines it with the best a sherry sherry butt has to offer.
    • Nose
The sherry influence is hugely evident, but also balanced and not too dominant. There's burlap, cocoa powder, lots of dried fruits (dates, sultanas), cassis and juicy plums. It has an interesting feint, vegetal edge. A touch af aniseed and nougat to finish things off.
    • Taste
Interestingly, the fruitiness that so characterizes the ex-bourbon cask, also makes an appearance here. The grapefruit is most evident, but there's apricot too. The sherry influence is most dominant, with milk chocolate, tobacco leaves and cherries, but it leaves room for the Inchmurrin-spirit.
    • Finish
Cocoa powder, dates and nectarines. Long.

Super value for money at the exit price.
    • Nose
Superb nose. We feel that it will send, mixture of exotic fruits and dried fruits, roasted spices.
    • Taste
In the mouth, the balance is there but the sherry loses a little of its intensity in favor of the fruity. Not as exotic as I expected but very good and quite complex despite the young age. It's very fresh, a little menthol kick occurs in the middle of the mouth
    • Finish
rather long finish which prolongs the minty sensation and, positive point, mixing all the flavors interviewed

I had still covered 5 cl. And again, what a whisky. the over 56% alcohol content is surprisingly well integrated. that with a 14-year-old whisky. one of my favorites when it comes to dark berries and propolis. top notch.
