    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Where is the alcohol? The powerful Glenlivet was bottled with an enormously strong 63.6%. Although I perceive a noticeable cooling in my nose, but miles away from an unpleasant stinging or burning. I honestly did not expect that. My nasal tip is enveloped by intense, heavy and complex sherry flavors. Lots of dark chocolate, cocoa for baking, dried fruits, especially dates, figs and raisins, crave at the beginning for the aromatic upper hand. After a few minutes, the complex impression continues to develop. Fine notes of leather, wood (old cigar box), tobacco leaves and some oak complete the aromatic profile. The anticipation of the pre-tasting is increasing!
    • Taste
A wolf in sheep's clothing. The first sip pushes mercilessly (good) in the mouth after about 10-15 seconds. The mouthfeel is very oily, almost buttery, very full-bodied and slightly astringent. A decent tingling (pepper / ginger?) On the tip of the tongue sets in, but without being too uncomfortable. The second and third sips reduce the tingling sensibly. The experienced "cask strength drinker" will certainly be able to enjoy the drop very well. The high alcohol content also invites you to experiment. But finally to taste: The chocolaty impression during nosing continues seamlessly in terms of taste. Dark, dark chocolate, red dried fruits, dates, raisins, juicy oranges and over-ripe plums flood the palate. The harmonious oak wood notes are joined by Christmas spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, tobacco leaves, leather, roasted aromas, espresso and walnuts complete the heavy, very aromatic conglomerate.
    • Finish
Long. Very warm, still very mouth-filling and intense. The finish line is dominated by dark chocolate notes, dried fruits, oranges, leather and espresso. The fine roasted aromas and spicy oak notes intensify. Finally, a slight bitterness and it is noticeably drier on the palate.

    • Nose
Rather closed initially, but already powerful, it slowly opens on hazelnuts, slightly vinous. He becomes more caressing, then shows great gentleness.
With water, it's the party: more pastry, with roasted notes, we find the hazelnut but also the vanilla.
    • Taste
Sherry marks the mouth, with moderate spices. It's pretty, but without great personality. With water, much more interesting, fluid, velvety, with a nice balance sweetness / spices, rather complex.
    • Finish
      Light final, easy enough.
With water, one bitter orange peel.

sherry, wood, cooked fruits and perennial scents, intense for a 9 year old!
    • Nose
black fruit (blackberry, grape, peach, cherry) then glue, soggy wood and chocolate, rare that I feel so fast.
it looks very sweet, creamy, honeyed.
    • Taste
intense spices, then return of alcohol that can boost the raw sherry side, no dust, no mold, just cooked and candied fruits!
the wood arrives behind, rather discreet at first, then more intense with chocolate and leather!
    • Finish
long, intense, on a young whisky, bluffed!

What a great Sherry dram although it's relative younger age(almost 11 years).

The dark colour is surprisingly but amazing. The big alcohol % doesn't botter and makes this a great sherry bomb.

    Loved it every minute.

I didn't even try adding a few drops of H2O as the whisky is fine straight out of the bottle.

I also think the black label on the bottle/tin makes the picture very beautiful.

    Great job done!
    • Nose
Great Sherry aroma's, red fruit and dark pure chocolate, with some cacao notes in the background. After some time orange peels and a little bit of honey pops up.
    • Taste
The dark chocolate really comes through, with lots of power (pepper/ginger). some more orange peel and berries are noticed.
    • Finish
      Slightly creamy, long & intense.

excellent young sherry cask fortress, a lot of prunes and dried fruits. Strong enough despite the fortress

  6. Donwaldorf scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

A powerful Scotch whisky that surprises with its profile close to a bourbon.
    • Nose
The nose seems closer to a grain or a bourbon I think. It is very vegetal, it also contains vanilla and sugar. (fruit syrup)
With time it becomes more caramel (Werthers Original mode).
    • Taste
We feel the 63.6% throughout this passage even if it does not bother too much anyway. It contains caramel, vanilla, fruits and this vegetal tip.
    • Finish
Final that seems austere at first but then that recarde on vanilla, caramel to see milk chocolate.
      Average length.

Not quite as powerful as the Beast or No. 3 whisky message. In the nose even more open and fine. The dark dried fruits and spice rack are immediately present.
Toasted aromas and Jaffa cake follow in big steps. The orange chocolate is already very present.
Also this GL does not burn at all and is very very oily in the texture. Wonderful Sherrynoten follow in a very complex environment without really overstraining. The orange chocolate is fully recovered. A little stale cooled espresso with sugar and salt crystals.
At the end a dominant oaky chocolate finish.
Really good. No trace of youth or miss notes. Blind, I would probably have estimated him to be of age. Glenlivet itself you get in my view, only if you know it. The whisky is close to the limit and had to go to the bottle!
