Talisker Port Ruighe, like Storm, is a 2013 launch. Named after the once thriving trading port on the Isle of Skye. In addition to the maritime Talisker character, storage in port wine casks ensures complexity and an intense fruit note of ripe red fruits. Without an age statement, the Talisker Port Ruighe is bottled at 45.8% ABV.

smoked meat, peat and sweet port dominate. next to that some red fruits, such as strawberries and tea leaves.
    • Taste
      84 84
in line with the nose, but quite bit more outspoken, nicely warming.
    • Finish
      83 83
warm peat with port, red fruits, nicely sweet lingering and easy drying.

A very nice whisky, smokey peaty flavour with a nice port aftertaste.

First tried in 2013 and it was excellent - strong port finish! Bought more in 2018 while travelling and the port taste was very weak - suspect rushed / reused casks with reduced port flavour. A shame really, but if you can get an older one - VERY GOOD!

      Smokey, peaty
    • Taste
      90 90
      Talisker standard smokeyness, smooth
    • Finish
      92 92
      Aftertaste of port, nice finish

    Notes from a blind tasting.
Unfortunately I find that something meaningless.
    • Nose
      81 81
Right at the beginning a clear nose of smoke, at the same time aromatic, reminiscent of Talisker and slightly metallic,
but also reminiscent of ripe berries.
    • Taste
      79 79
Sweet, slightly tingling, supple, then clear peppery.
The pepper portion in the mouth indicates a Talisker.
    • Finish
      79 79
Peat flavors become a bit bitter in the finish, which opens relatively quickly into a general smoke.

good surprise for a small price more, to taste with a salmon marbled!
    • Nose
salt, a feeling of dust, candied fruit, pepper!
    • Taste
very salty, peppery, smoky, candied fruit (due to the port finish?) that draw towards the red fruits and a little minty side!
    • Finish
long finish on the same aromas
