A typical Wemyss theme bottling - this is the name of the program: you feel transported back to a gentleman's room, with notes of tobacco and leather ... harmonious from nose to finish.
    • Nose
Leather, satchels, cigar box, tobacco, - the name is program; dark caramel, oranges, lemons, smoke, forest floor, freshly hewn spruce, forest air, mushrooms
    • Taste
oily, intense spicy on the nose with smoke and pipe tobacco, lemon, orange, blackberry, ginger, pepper, mocha, malt candy, burnt caramel, vanilla, cotton candy, leather, barbecue sauce, meat broth, light sweetness, but more on the spicy track
    • Finish
aromatic and spicy, with smoke, tobacco and leather, lemon and ginger ... at the end still tobacco, meat broth and the burnt caramel ...

In this Bunnahabhain the name is program. Chandler's Tobacco Pouch fits like a fist on the eye. Intense and clear fruit flavors mingle with the tasty tobacco aromas, there is nothing else to mention in my conclusion. Great part, I like it very much!
    • Nose
Shortly after pouring roast aromas and dark fruit notes flow from the glass. The Bunna looks fresh and clear at first, then showcase berries, blackberries and cherries powerfully. Fresh tobacco leaves and a hint of cedar wood blend with "young" leather, sweet tobacco and a subtle smoky note let forget the fruity notes. The leather and the various tobaccos exude their tasty flavor for a long time while the fruit notes gradually return. Orange and lemon slices give off their intense aroma, while prunes mix with the sweetish tobacco / leather note. Fruity and harsh, then sweetness and caramel followed by vineyard peach and orange, the flavors change every second. After this varied nose, I can hardly wait for the first sip, especially as my salivation is more and more stimulated ...
    • Taste
Clear and pure the first sip flows over the tongue. Liquid tobacco and wet leather dominate the first sip. The cigar box and cedar wood mentioned here are fully appreciated. Sweetish tobacco leaves mingle with harsh leather, a subtle smoky note is above all else. Dark and intense cherries and blackcurrants mix with the tasty tobacco flavors. Even I as a self-confessed non-smoker can not get enough of these aromas ;-) I sincerely hope that these aromas never fade away and remain in my memory forever.
    • Finish
Cold smoke and bitter tobacco dominate the action at the beginning of the departure. Wet and harsh leather mixes with the tart tobacco aromas, the fruity cherries and blackberries honor slowly back. Dark and tart wood tones spread over the tongue and exude their harsh and dry aroma. An old and dry walnut flavor leaves the "cigar box" forgotten for a moment at the very end of the departure.

The scores especially with his great nose, which is best enjoyed after a while in the glass. Also in the taste and finish he is top, a very beautiful independent Bunna.
    • Nose
      92 92
Dark fruit with overripe grapes, raisins, dried figs and dates. Old leather, flavored pipe tobacco. The barrel comes out very well. Over time black cherry jam, blackcurrants, blackberry jelly. Marzipan, nougat, toffee, caramel. Spices need their time, but once there, they focus intensely on the fruits: cinnamon, rosemary, curry spice, cumin. The smell of damp autumn leaves.
    • Taste
      91 91
Creamy, viscous onset. Syrupy. Dried prunes and figs, cherries, grape juice. Orange marmalade, almonds, marzipan bread. There is a rather rich selection of flavors on the tongue. Slightly grated ginger and fresh peppermint. Raspberry drops. Gets dry after a while and brings leather and tobacco notes. Mature, slightly damp wood. Honey, vanilla. Forest soil after a rain shower. Mild pepper, slightly mentholig in the back.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium to long, slightly dry. Oak notes, leather, roasted orange peel and a mild spice mix.

[URL = https: //www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/97590/bunnahabhain-1988-wy] A very nice Bunnahabhain [/ URL]

    Nose:
Immediately after pouring dark fruit flavors flow from the glass.
Blackberry, blackcurrant, fully ripe sweet cherries, blood orange, pomegranate.
After a few swivels in the glass it gets spicier - cigarillos, leather, but also some Wick Vaporub and a subtle ginger note in the background. A walk through a coniferous forest after a rain, when light mustiness from the damp soil and resin scents rise in the nose.
When the nose moves away from the edge of the glass, the smell becomes fresh, freshly cut orange and tangerine.
    A really great, changeable nose!

    Mouth:
The start is immediately dark fruity (dark berries, plums), with a spicy touch of tobacco and smoke (I immediately have cigarillo in the mouth and in the nose). Orange marmalade and caramel, subtle notes of After Eight, some ginger. With some time left in the mouth hazelnut and walnut are still on the stage.
Also multilayered in the mouth, changeable without getting tired. You want to keep it forever in your mouth!

    Finish:
    Medium-long, dark-fruity and restorative tobacco.

A really great bottling, which is a lot of fun and with which you can easily spend half an hour.

    Very nice, solid bunna.
On the nose leather, shoebox, cardboard, tobacco, damp wood, vanilla, some orange peel, pomegranate and cinnamon. Sometimes the oily mouthfeel I've ever had with a whisky. Here, too, there are dry notes, with no alcohol tinge. Walnut, orange, ginger, some pepper, leather, marshmallows and vanilla. Eternally long, dry and sweet in the finish. Pepper, vanilla, some coconut and a lot of tobacco. And compared to some other Bunnahabhain from Wemyss (vintage 87s-89s) without a sulfur note. Nice. 90 points

A dream Wemyss, real pearl when standing in this way, unfortunately, the price now seems to reflect the same.
    • Nose
What a flavor density! Marzipan, pure caramel, nougat, tons of sweet tobacco, old gentlemen's club, leather-bound chest, saffron, ginger, pickled cherries, dates, rum-raisins
    • Taste
Rumrosines, marzipan, dry milk chocolate, blackberries, orange and ginger marmalade, hint of anise, cumin, old chest of drawers, dark malt, cherries in brandy, a touch of blood orange
    • Finish
Dates, leather, anise, fennel, here comes a touch of salt, long

Nose: Some quite old wood notes combined with such a deep caramel-demerara-mixture. Nevertheless a freshly-dried tobacco leaf is shown and not to forget a ugly-rough--citric-maritime dor, a typical Bunna-nose. but WOW!!!

    Palate: Oily, deep & complex.
A nice mixture of wooded salmon, pipe tobacco stored in old wooden barrels. That rich bodied whisky battles between citrus sweetness and musky notes. Maritime flavourings and sherry is not too short.

Finish: Full force of maritime character of Islay. So oily, grubby and rich. This dram is a perfect one for lovers of 25yo Bunna......
    but you must know:
Even much more complex, rich and deep. A dram for experts I would say.

Without doubt one of the best Bunnas ever.

Nose: very light smoke, citrus notes, typical maritime Bunna notes, dark fruit cocktail, above all lies a fresh tobacco note. One of the best noses ever!
Taste: salty sea breeze, round fresh tobacco note, for me perfect 47.5% alcohol has resulted in the barrel, which is excellently integrated. Dark and bright fruits form an interplay. Slightly scorched leather. Very changeable, madly complex Malt, whose facets I can not list all here. Can you spend hours with. The seemingly endless finish is spicy-sweet. A dryness sets in only after a certain time.
A typical Bunna for me, who thanks to 27 years of maturation was able to gain enormous complexity and needed time in the glass to make use of his multifaceted nature. He reminds me of the 25-year-old standard, but is more complex and has a great tobacco note. The issue price amounted to reasonable 160-180 € for me. Unfortunately, this single cask is finally and does not produce many bottles. More of that!

At the very back there is still wildberry jam
