so intense sweet and fruity with full broadside delicious oak - wow what a malt at the price - cool
    • Nose
intense fresh oak - multilayered with massive acidity, slightly resinous, spicy vegetal - extreme vanilla and honey sweetness, apple and pear compote with cloves and cinnamon - slightly fermented, wrinkled red apples, vanilla-streuselteig, mint
    • Taste
sweet vanilla, strong oak - spiciness - beautiful bourbon cashew, fruity, spicy, malty, tart roasted notes, chocolate-nutty - spicy, slightly alcoholic, tingling tannins
    • Finish
warming, caramel, creamy, tobacco leaves, slightly bitter spicy oak, medium to long - warming and at the same time mint cooling

The name "Rocking rollercoaster ride" is program - this bottling actually rocks. Very interesting barrel of SMWS, many sweet and spicy ingredients.
    • Nose
      89 89
Strong spicy oak, lots of honey, vanilla, yeast dough with sweet apples. Something fresh mint, the nose would not touch almost 60% alcohol.
    • Taste
      88 88
Lots of honey and vanilla on the tongue, creamy and strong in the onset, immediately afterwards spicy oak, with caramel and some cocoa, without excessive bitter substances - yummy. Some water intensifies the sweet and creamy elements.
    • Finish
      88 88
Nice long, intense, warming and pleasant, again with honey and oak, dark chocolate.

Oops, the 44.8 on the sample was not the alcohol content, but the barrel number! OK, 58.9% explains a lot. I like it, nice strong, edgy, spicy keg.
    • Nose
Pure: dusty, spicy, dry wood, old kitchen herbs, dried out tobacco, coniferous forest, a bit snappy, I would estimate it to more than 44.8% ... with time it will be round and sweet, brown sugar, cinnamon, a little nut / Nougat the tobacco is juicier, some water favors this development, fruit compote, cinnamon, some fresh menthol
    • Taste
strong (even after adding water), bittersweet, spicy ... funny mouthfeel, it is very intense in taste, but does not seem "fat", full-bodied, but rather lean, wiry ... oak, good pepper, cocoa, coffee, a hint Herbal bitter, resinous-bitter sweetness, after a while in the mouth it is creamy, caramel, but the pepper remains
    • Finish
long and warm, first bitter, coffee, herbs, then long creamy-peppery-sweet

Enjoyable. Deep and complex vanilla notes, contrasted by herbs. But by and large a vanilla caramel malt with a strong ex-Bourbon character. 87/100
    • Nose
without water : intense spicy with light sweetness. Herbs (especially sage), cardamom, anise, vanilla and honey. with water : more vanilla, caramel, chocolate. Sage still. Bright cake batter, biscuit.
    • Taste
without water : wow. Warm, liquid honey with herbs, lots of vanilla and caramel, toffee. Creamy. with water : toffee, anise and a lot of different vanilla flavors. buttery-creamy.
    • Finish
Anise, loads of vanilla and caramel, butterscotch, toffee.

  5. Calmar scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A fairly young but very attractive mole, the aroma on the step is higher than the taste / finish, but due to strength and pressure, and also bright and festive character, lack of depth and complexity is not so frustrating, besides from under the stern, oak-grain shell in the development more and more light and cheerful honey-floral shades make their way.
    • Nose
Open, wet, the first nose - a damp oak with light floral hues; a lot of juicy and thick oak, a damp grain, floral notes, a few spiky mineral tones, lemon peel in tea, resin, nuts, some green grass and weak honey-caramel inclusions.
    • Taste
Saturated, powerful, oily, corn, soft oak, tart bitter-sweet wave with peppery end, in the background floral-lemonade notes, roasted nuts, grilled sugar.
    • Finish
Soft, warming, grapefruit crust, slightly astringent, bitter-sweet oak, a little ginger, grain, honey-floral sweet shades develop.

    Blind Tasting
    • Nose
Rund, fruchtig, leicht blumig. Aprikosentarte, Pfirsiche, Bananen. Zwieback, staubiges altes Holz, Bienenwachskerzen. Herbstblumen, getrocknete Gartenminze und ein Hauch Koriander.
    • Taste
Pfeffrige Schärfe, dann ölig-süß mit hellem Honig, Bananenchips und getrockneten Aprikosen. Vanilleeis mit etwas Pfirsichlikör. Mandeln, Kakaosplitter, schokolierte Espressobohne. Mittellang.

I like him. Sweet-spicy, intense, with fruit and kräutrigen notes, lots of it. Some VOs are just awesome.
    • Nose
Apple and pear compote with cinnamon and cardamom, honey, vanilla, apple crumble cake, freshly sawn wood, lemon meringue, almonds, mint, sage, eucalyptus sweets, stomach bread, light leather notes
    • Taste
(with a few drops of water) prickelder start, vanilla, caramel, marzipan croissants, stomach bread, marshmallows, beautiful oak, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, apple compote, lemon meringue, sage tea, mint, eucalyptus, very nice spicy-sweet
    • Finish
relatively long, ginger, marzipan squirrel, mint, light leather notes ... very nice

    SMWS Notes:

Plenty of sweetness at first on the nose neat with puff candy meringues and bonfire toffee. With time dried dates and toasted pine nuts appeared as well as uncorking that exceptional old bottle of vintage wine. To try it was like a rollercoaster ride, starting with gentle sweet ripe fruits, followed by the heat of citric herbal notes and then finishing silky smooth with a hint of smoked wood. Careful with water; aromas of marzipan covered fruitcake were followed by moist clementine and gingerbread trifle. Twelve years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, finished in a virgin oak hogshead with a heavy toast and a medium char.
