Hallelujah, what an interesting and idiosyncratic drop. Powerful and voluminous, this lad can notice his young age of only five years, but the fullness and intensity of the aromas make his youthfulness quickly forgotten. Although this malt seems a bit monotonous at first, it becomes more interesting and complex in the course of the tasting. An unusual and very tasty drop, I like it very much!
    • Nose
Wonderfully radiant and pure amber shines in the glass, tenacious drops dissolve out of the streaks sticking to the glass wall, while intense toasted aromas mingle with nuts and powerfully lift out of the glass. Pears, grassy apples and dark caramel blend into a very own but irresistible nose, toffee and fudges melt in the nose. Sweet PX sherry flavors are tasty in the air, the overripe and dried berries exude their wonderful aroma. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated, it dominates at the moment only the sweetness of PX grapes. The intense and sweet aroma stimulates the salivation, I want to finally try the Glenglassaugh ...
    • Taste
Sour grapes and berries mix with the first sip of spicy wood tones, briefly sparkling sweet and malty caramel. The spicy wood explodes after a few seconds formally in the mouth and exudes a peppery, yet sweet pungency. Wooden sharpness lays over the tongue and dresses the rest of the palate with a tingling coating. The salivation is stimulated to the most massive, in seconds, the mouth fills with saliva. Slowly, the heat fades away, leaving a dry sweetness and creamy caramel in the mouth. Walnuts mix with almonds and Amaretto, I suck some dry woody elements while the powerful and interesting taste goes into the finish.
    • Finish
Creamy caramel and a piece of butter melts in the mouth, the spicy wood releases sweet and fruity berries and grapes. The dried grapes and the peppery pungency return and exude a wonderful aroma. Slow, really, very slow, the powerful and intense finish sounds and leaves a fruity sweetness mixed with creamy wood tones.

For the age quite nice malt, 55 € to only 0.5l I would not have given it anyway, rather to 0.7l.
    • Nose
Nice, mellow nose for the alcohol content, a caramel pickled, red apples, toffee, fresh pears and peaches, vanilla, marzipan and very subtly sweet grasses, coconut flakes
    • Taste
Nice mix of coconut and honey, with fresh grapes with fine acidity, green apples now rather than red, still unripe pear, vanilla, light honey, liquorice and young oak are also included
    • Finish
A little nutmeg is added, cinnamon, light baked apple tones now, toffee, thyme, ginger, short to medium length

Nose: PX-Sherry, plum, dates, toffee, caramel, thick and oily, but also neat pepper and menthol

Gschmack: first a fat load of sherry, sher tight, oily, plum jam, then bites the alcohol

Finish: rather short, clearly sherry, the oak comes out the back and brings spice and subtle bitterness

with water: floral notes, including bright fruits, grains and some salt, it does not break, but the young age is everywhere

Conclusion: Better than a lot of Octaves by Glenglassaugh, he can hide his youth well, but just can not deny.

schöne Karamelnase - hier ist das geringe Alter auch kaum wahrnehmbar - am Gaumen geht er für mich aber gar nicht ohne Wasser

Amazing! Only 5 years and very well matured. Oily texture and nice bronze color. Wonderfully smooth. The 60% are not recognizable. Typical PX flavours not to prominent, but nicely embedded. I was very surprised, that the octave worked out so well. I personally would have said: at least 14 years.
