[October, 2017]  ...a sherry cask matured whisky and a "Germany only" release - so I expect sulphur.

Oooh, no sulphur!  Did they hear the bang or is this just by incident?  Actually it is a quite nice dram with the typical (light) Ardmore peatiness escorted by delicious sherry and barley sugary flavours.  All nicely balanced both in the nose and on the palate.  No flaws in the mouthfeel and finish that I can find.  The finish is long and sherry wine-sweet with nice peaty flavours that really pep it up.  Water turns the dram smoother and releases more aromas so I like it reduced better than neat.  Just the nose stays punchy even after water added...

I just had a 2cl sample because of my fears of sulphur but most probably I will get me a full bottle of this delicious stuff.  Well done, G&M!

A great malt. I hope nobody reads this ...
    • Nose
Ashy and oily smokes along with spicy orange peel, chocolate, typical Ardmore workshop, as if 100 liters of sherry had passed through an exhaust, cigar tobacco
    • Taste
Chocolate smoke, beautiful and pleasantly powerful onset, very creamy, a lot of oak, a lot of heat in the mouth, no dryness
    • Finish
There is the engine room again, then the smoke comes with a pleasant bitterness, the whole chocolate whip hits you

Yes delicious. Amazingly little smoke for an Ardmore. Since the Portwood OA has much more. The sherry is very well integrated. The alcohol note comes to me but a little too much. It gets better with water. The high ratings in the base, I can not understand. Since I prefer to buy two bottles of Classic of Islay for the same price ...

I think Scheros description with "workshop" and "100 liters of sherry through exhaust" somehow pretty good. I would join that; However, it does not quite meet my taste.
I would probably rather resort to springbang 12er CS, if I want something dirty with sherry and bit of smoke.
but qualitasmäßig is already pretty good!
Edit: is getting better. My first assessment was premature. Now I would almost give him the 90th ... wait ...

The bottle has been "darkened" a bit since opening and is very similar to the previous bottling of 2016.
    • Nose
Orange peel, blockade, mirabelle plums, a hint of cinnamon, especially compared to the Laphi cozy smoke, hot campfire, hot coffee, railway sleepers in the sun, menthol, later ripe plums, a hint of lilac, with water: the "first nose" is back, Orange peel, cinnamon, herb-fruity, later lilac blossom, hedge trimmer full of oil and resin, which has spent on a Thuja hedge. Time in the glass works wonders, lilac, acacia honey, hammer!
    • Taste
Without water too many turns for my taste. Dark-malty with water, coffee, block malt, plum jam, orange peel, sweet, caramel, Bailey's, spruce forest.
    • Finish
Resin, spruce forest, moder, malt beer, coffee. Ordinary portion of bitterness, medium long, warming. Caramel, oranges, blockade left behind.
