    • Nose
Dried fruits, rather round. Old dusty cellar, "cardboard sherry". Vanilla, rich enough. A little alcohol.
    • Taste
Soft and supple, very beautiful texture. Sherry caressing, the easy side of irish. Some spices.
    • Finish
Honest spices, consistent aromas with the palate, with some exotic fruits and an evocation of white russian.

      Nose 2/5
      Mouth & Finale 3/5

I am a bit stern because but expectations are high enough on Redbreast. This is one of the worst ones I have tasted.

      Whiskey n ° 1673

A very good dram that offers a different sherry note compared to may of the "norms" that are out there. I find this whiskey very different and indeed very enjoyable. It is different to other Redbreast and I enjoyed the difference.
    • Nose
Much lighter than I was expecting. Its creamy, sweet from vanilla, custard, banana custard, light toffee that leads into slight tropical fruit notes of pineapple. Marzipan, vanilla and cereal. As it opens up the Banana notes take over, which I love.
    • Taste
Initial notes are the traditional redbreast, creamy and spices, not at all as sweet as the nose. Soon this is flooded with the wonderful sherry coming from Lustau and this is quite different to your normal Oloroso cask finished whiskey.

I also find hints of liquorice. Its the sherry that makes all the difference here and I find it very interesting.

It is a bit of an atypical Redbreast (less tropical) but absolutely interesting. Available for around 70 EUR, which is rather steep in my book. But you do get some bespoke Irish-Spanish custom whiskey in return.
    • Nose
The nose is very sweet with lots of earthy notes and the smell of old wood. The sherry influcences are there, but not as you are used to. Much more delicate and refinded. Baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon, milk chocolate, vanilla and raisins. Some hazelnuts. Pineapple cubes. Candied fruit. Very soft.
    • Taste
It is less delicate and much spicier on the palate, though. Think cinnamon, pepper and some cloves. Apples again, but also a hint of banana and loads of honey. Raisins become sultanas, milk chocolate moves over to allow some orange liqueur to move in. Nicely balanced, by the way.
    • Finish
The finish is surprisingly long, sweet and warm.

Vanilla, brown sugar, raisins, chocolate, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, cinnamon, sawdust, plums, apricot, little leather, nutmeg and pepper

  9. wisekycourse scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

A dram fino finish that hides in my opinion, debauchery fruit of 12 years, a small disappointment!
    • Nose
      vanilla scent, spices, pastry taste.
    • Taste
Vanilla, scent of Madeira, spicy malt, few fruits compared to the "old" 12 years basic, plus the herbaceous and malty taste.
    • Finish
On the same scents, fairly monolithic, medium finish.

It scrapes a good. Regular RB 15 any day.
    • Nose
Not as strong or good as regular redbreast 15. Marzipan, cherry
    • Taste
      Oranges, mint
    • Finish
