  5. KayMeertens scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

This one really has that dirty touch that Mortlachs from the end of the eighties have. Although the combination with the peat made me think of Glen Scotia. 84/85.
    • Nose
'Dirty' chewy toffee, almond, apple, orange. A little peach and sulphur.
    • Taste
Caramel, peat, cherry. With water the peat becomes stronger.
    • Finish
Toffee, peat, almond, cherry and bramble.

  6. Rustamich did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Considerably less concentrated than other Mortlachs on the market.
    • Nose
Typical Mortlach meatiness with soft ripe banana, bourbon creams, burnt toffee and smoke. In time a sulphury note and some mustiness.
    • Taste
Starts lightly honeyed then deepens into those roasting tin/meat reduction flavours with a peaty drive. Wood is slightly abrasive.
    • Finish
      Hot, chewy then smoke.

  7. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    sample from www.whiskykoning.nl
    • Nose
full and heavy with meat, some sulphur, pepper, spices - cinnamon, some floral notes, butter and with water some mint and liquorice
    • Taste
again very full! starts sweet, spices, corn, honey, a hint of gun powder, fudge and chocolate
    • Finish
sulphur, citrus fruits - orange peel, vanilla, pepper and raisins
