Our noses detected wood (shaved pine, polished wood, window putty); one panellist got Danish pastries and cinnamon rolls baking in the oven; others volunteered coconut ice and pecan pie. The neat palate seemed hot, tingly and sharp (eucalyptus, aniseed, chilli), yet we all liked it – maybe for the fudge, fruit and nut dark chocolate, refreshers and custard apple that we found behind the heat. With water the nose indicated sauna wood, pumpkin spice candles and Frutellas, all on an early autumn harvest day. The palate became ‘very pleasant’ and ‘easy-drinking’ – light wood, vanilla ice-lollies, key lime pie, marshmallows and Victory V’s.
