[July, 2017]  As this dram was my favourite during a Cadenhead warehouse tasting in Campbeltown I could not resist to open this bottle and share it with friends.  Please see note below for the story behind this blend.

The colour is tawny and the texture shows slow legs and fat sticky tears.  The nose offers a beautiful old style sherry profile that is nicely balanced with the malty and grainy aromas.  No flaws or off-notes, just clean sherry and high quality spirits.  The initial mouthfeel is smooth, warming and coating with some peppery moments.  The taste is creamy, chewable and multi-layered on sherry-induced flavours (nuts, raisins, plums, orange peels, milk chocolate), barley sugars, honey and spicy wooden notes.  The finish is very long, chocolatey and without any drying or bitter notes (despite the long years in different casks).  Water smoothes the dram further and releases some more aromas but the power is with the neat dram.  Actually I like it both ways.

This is one of the best blends I had so far and I had quite a lote over the last 25 years.  A great job of the good people at Cadenhead and worth another visit (there are rumours that more casks of such delicious old blends are hidden in the warehouses at Campbeltown)...

[May, 2017]  I had this during a Cadenhead warehouse tasting at Campbeltown and bought two bottles for 135 GBP each.  By the way, the 46.0% abv is cask strength (even if it looks like designed).

This blend contains Macallan, Highland Park, Glenrothes, Tamdhu (all fallen below 40% abv in their casks) and Invergordon (to push the blend to above 46% abv) - all of vintage 1980 (or older).  It was married in a sherry butt eight years ago and that worked absolutely perfect.  It owns an adorable creamy and coating mouthfeel and an unbelievable rich and complex flavours profile of the "old school".  Despite many high quality casks in this tasting (e.g., 30 year Mortlach, 29 year Highland Park and Linkwood) this blend was my favourite dram.  I will do a more detailed tasting note once I opened a bottle at home, probably very soon...
