[May, 2017]  I had this during the Feis Ile.  Unfortunately I was not able to get a bottle as people queued as early as 7am in front of the distillery and these ignorant .... at Bowmore sold as many as four (!!!) bottles per person of this very limited release.  So after 150 people it was sold out and many, many visitors were really angry and dissatisfied.

Why the hell they do not sell just one bottle per head - for us drinkers this is more than okay and the greedy resellers (that sold it the same day on the internet already) are dried out!  Bowmore lost a lot of symphathy among the drinkers on that day...

A very nice dram to drink and an excellent profit for all these nasty and greedy internet resellers.  I will certainly not buy a bottle from you (and by the way, the original price of 130 GBP is my upper limit for such a dram anyway)!
    • Nose
      91 91
The nose is all about a full load of clean sherry - very balanced and on a strong raisins aroma.
    • Taste
      89 89
The taste is on a superb creamy sherry again but gets a little woody due to the tannins.
    • Finish
      90 90
The mouthfeel is a little hot and peppery first but very nicely coating and the finish is long and sweet on dark chocolate, raisins and wooden flavours again.

Initially some dried fruits - raisin, currants. Roasted hazelnuts. Some wood spices, nutmeg, and little brown sugar and then after 2 or 3 minutes in the glass the peat starts to develop with tar evident. Some savoury coastal notes. Very earthy - not sure if matured in dunnage warehouses? Some citrus - more on dried peel but all very integrated. Quite complex.

The sherry is more evident on the palate on the arrival. Peat and smoke and coastal notes in the development

Drying on the finish, with kippers and peat, smoke and slightly bitter aromatic tea - perhaps jasmine stalks?

Revised score after some oxidation. Less harsh and spirity. Price score based on purchase price for a single cask OB aged 19 years in a quality sherry cask. Very expensive on secondary market.

I was fortunate to be tasting this special bottling from the "Feis Ile / The Islay Festival of Music and Malt". Thanks for pit.
    • Nose
      93 93
The sherry with not too strong sweetness expresses itself immediately in the foreground and goes slowly into the Bowmore typical, slightly smoky and also salty fruit notes of dark berries and dark grapes.
    • Taste
      94 94
Nice smoothy he comes with a creaminess and light oiliness therefore.
The sherry sweet smoke is dominant and does not let you go.
It tastes only after the second sip of the approach of air-dried ham and a little Nussigkeit mixed with chocolate.
The sweetness will turn slightly bitter in orange pulp and a little espresso.
    • Finish
      93 93
With the long dominating smoke is a raisin sweetness also long on the palate.
It then turns more and more dry into dark chocolate with raisins.

    • Nose
Sweet Shirley, fruit-roasted fish with peat at the beach, sweat-soaked paper, tar, leather, fragrant chocolate, brown sugar, dried grape fruit, baked sugar-coated hazelnuts, spices, citrus peel, chamomile, floral Peat.
Good, complex, balanced, and hierarchical, even those who are picky can only deduct points on specificity and explosiveness.
    • Taste
Soil, tar, coffee grounds, cocoa powder, wood board, pepper, peat, raisins, tannins, berries, nuts, dried flowers, cream.
Only 19 years later, it is not said that it is a wood soup. The other flavors are still there, that is, the proportion of wood and tannin is more.
    • Finish
Long, sea breeze, fruit, cocoa, peat.

Clean Sherry and some peat in the nose, in the mouth incredible clean sweetness with a long finish, raisins everywhere, but sweet ones :)

The nose is top notch, the palate is a little bit short. Wonderful peat and sherry marriage.
    • Nose
pungent alcohol, old school sherry, iodine, leathery black pepper, grape skins, blueberries, salty air, integration of peat and sherry is wonderful,
    • Taste
salty and oily, sweet barley, medium peat and smoke, then leather, blood orange, salty again, good sherry (leather/redfruits), espresso, drying.
    • Finish
      dark chocolates, long, spices, mints

Well, I like the Bowmore violet, if this is only an accessory and does not occupy the entire room. In combination with the Sherry Fassreifung results in a great overall composition.
    • Nose
At first a bit difficult to grasp, but with time it opens, unmistakable Bowmore, beautiful well integrated smoke, the typical violet note is also there, in addition to dark fruits, slightly sour, milk chocolate with bacon bits, cocoa, some caramel, overall rather filigree
    • Taste
oily, creamy, here again the smoke and violets, then come the sherry, plum jam, nuts, espresso, some oak, also here more filigree than in the face, it spreads a pleasant warmth, the alcohol is super integrated
    • Finish
behind the back he gets drier, the plum sweetness sticks to the palate, the smoke is above everything, nice ashy and also quite dry
