Great nose on lemon, angelica , wax and smoke ... very complex and characterful..the palate is interestingly smoky with some coastal notes and fine honey added...the finish not very long but leaves you with a great smile
a good dram, not quite my preferred style but enjoyable and very substantial. 87/100
neat this an attack at that high strength! rather smoky with a lot of dark chocolate, walnuts, dust, earth, oak. water brings out malt and apple peelings much lighter and less dark in its profile now. a little steely, old coins, tin box.
with water: did not want to sip this one neat. creamy texture, malty and a little caramel. milk chocolate, maple syrup, heather honey and a little smoke.
good length, slowly drying, slightly peppery and slightly smoky.
It starts rather monolithic, but on the palate and finish, this is a multi-layered and pleasant dram. Not overly smoky, but pleasantly salty.
Rather dark, but with a fresh twist: woody, earthy, salty, zingy. Used wood, twiggy peat smoke, licorice root, heather, earth, oyster sauce, sea water, anchovies, kippers. The freshness comes from squashed lemon and a hint of peach.
Hot, still dominated by the wood and dry peat smoke. Further: vanilla, toffee, and leather. Behind that, fruitiness unfolds, with plums, dates, and raisins. Finally, there is a hint of balsamic vinegar. There is still freshness of lemon.
Quite long, salty, earthy, and fruity. It lingers on balsamic vinegar, leather, kippers, woody peat smoke, and dried fruit. It's a tad drying though.
