  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

From the nose to the finish, it is very harmonious in an almost perfect arc,

it has the potential to become a small successor to the Ardbeg of the 70s, it only lacks years and the perfect perfection

a 7 year old and so heavenly

Yes, I'm in Heaven - 93 out of 100 points
    • Nose
Nose after pouring without movement: Sherry dark bittersweet with herbs and slightly sour, dark malty, earthy

after a while with exercise: more intense, I never recognized my nose as Kilchoman, less smoke, much earthier now sweet sherry, some sulfur and cucumber water, quite salty, some iodine, peat and erika, orange splashes, even a hint of black radish juice, candied Fruits, very sweet light caramel, creek mud, .... and it goes on and on HP or Ardbeg I would have typed

      Erika near a sulfur spring
    • Taste
wow - gentle on the go, dark sherry, great caramel sweetness, fine bitter notes mixed with chocolate and sweet caramel, floral and earthy notes, camphor, herbs, iodine and phenol, salty, sweet - ingenious, on the throat a nice hot smoke, hot and snappy, sweet and bitter, rough and soft, what more could you want except age ...

      damn complex and tense mouth
    • Finish
      long
bittersweet nutty sherry with caramel, flowery, earthy, walnut shells, malty, dark, sweet, fish, some salt and iodine, sweet chewing tobacco, vanilla and now comes the young wood from the bourbon barrel and your mouth is wet ...

and now I have new Michelin tires in the mouth;) the hammer

[June, 2017]  I had this dram during a Feis Ile tasting at Bonn.

This is a Janus-type two-faced dram with completely different profiles in the nose and on the palate - fun to explore...
    • Nose
      85 85
The colour is old gold and the texture shows slow legs and late fat sticky tears. The nose is on a strong grassy, summer floral and herbal (camphor, eucalyptus) profile with just a little peat only. It is not really sweet either.
    • Taste
      87 87
The taste is sweet, phenolic, peppery and a little salty. There are no grassy nor herbal flavours anymore (like in the nose), that is very strange! But some hints of less-known fruits (quinces?).
    • Finish
      86 86
The mouthfeel is warming and tongue coating with no distracting moments. The finish is sweet and of medium length. It gets slightly (but not unpleasantly) bitter and drying at the end (papers). With some water added the nose gets even more herbal and now some herbs pop up on the palate as well. The finish shortens, so I like it better when neat.

What a delicious whisky and pretty much the best Kilchoman I've ever had in my glass. Certainly not the most over-complex but absolutely something for the sweet tooth!

I prefer the typical Kilchomans compared to this one. Nevertheless Feis Ile should be something special and therefore this dram is a real success by Kilchoman as it is really different from the usual casks that I have had in my glass so far.
    • Nose
very malty which is not so typical for Kilchoman as far as I can tell. It is a very special nose with a huge complexity. The seasalt and smoke is not so present. That's why Kilchoman fans might be disliked by this one and would also not bet on Kilchoman in a blind tasting.

Some decent vanilla, sulfur and a fruity influence as well... But which fruits (can't tell to be honest)... Some sweetness, toffee

Very interesting and I could smell it for hours. Lovely!
    • Taste
Much more sherry influence & more sulfur in the mouth and the dram gets now much sweeter.
    • Finish
Earthy, solid finish with dry sherry but less sweet than the mouth and nose. There is some bitterness after a few seconds which could have been better but still a good dram.

Kilchoman Feis Ile 2017 100% Islay. Consumed July 2018. Aroma is plastic, airy brown sugar, leather straps. Taste is rounded booze, more leather and wood, plastic and molasses. Interesting flavour that's quite hard to place. It's okay but I quite simple-tasting, muddled. (80)

  8. Paszko scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Whisky made for a longer lean over it. At first glance, it seems shallow, with time new threads appear.
    • Nose
Pepper, iodine, a little mineral, a little wood, a lot of fruit - green apples, but also strawberries and sweet cherries. Mix without the dominant thread.
    • Taste
Very warm, but masked alcohol. There is wood, a lot of sweets - apple compote, cherry compote. There is also some smoke - heavily smoked ham, smoke from a fire from wet wood. A little salt, sea threads.
    • Finish
Quite long, very warm. Wood and fruit dominate, the smoke tends towards the sooty wood, but it is soft.

Tasting young but not overly spirity. Not a fan of the cloves I can taste but can imagine someone else does. It's closer to gin than whisky in my opinion.
