I love port barrel whiskys, the great berry flavors come into their own, and the alcohol is also well integrated. Intense vanilla aromas meet ripe berries.
    • Nose
Sweet with vanilla and syrup and very berry with cherries, plums and wild berries on the nose. Raisins and dried fruits create the impression of a jam before it gets more exotic. Liquorice and cinnamon paired with flavors of lime and sweet and sour cranberries. Something flowery with honey can also be seen.
    • Taste
Sweet, dark and creamy again in the mouth. Ripe berries with syrup and honey meet some tangy liquorice and oily nuttiness. Citrus aromas, oranges and vanilla are noticeable underneath, maybe there is also some sweet pineapple.
    • Finish
Very sweet finish with wild berries and vanilla, with a little cinnamon.

He needs some time in the air as he comes across as quite sharp and boisterous. But then nuts, red berries, raisins, citrus fruits, granola, cinnamon and furniture polish. All in all quite fruity and sweet.
    • Taste
      82 82
Creamy, dirty and nutty, again quite sweet at first, with lemon zest, raspberries and caramel.
But then quite quickly bitter, with herbs, ash and leather. Very peppery and unround towards the end. Really disappointing compared to the nose.
    • Finish
      81 81
Relatively short and off-round, pepper, noticeable oak spice, pungent alcohol and only slight residual sweetness. The ash is also present again.

Nose: The aroma of fine dried fruits (prunes or grapes) comes first. After that, something smells like a spice I've never felt before, but I can't describe it. sour? It also smells like vinegar. After that, you can feel the scent of fragrant nuts, and the flavor is colorful. After taking a few sips, the vinegary scent changed to an orange scent.

Palette: Slightly watery. It has a spicy and savory taste and leaves a feeling of tannins at the end. slightly dry

Finish: A short finish with a slight warmth.

Overall Review: It was a cup that gave me a different feeling. What is the expected maturity of 15 years? It was the first time I tried Jura whisky itself, and I thought that the local price was around 100 euros. I think it's worth buying and eating around 20 or so by domestic standards.

  6. Official tasting note

COLOUR: Amber gold with flashes of crimson mahogany

NOSE: Black forest fruits, chewy liquorice, ripe plums and creamy white chocolate

TASTE: Orange zest, walnut cake, glazed pineapple and crème de cassis

Nose: Strong. Sorbet strawberry / basil. Financier (butter cake with almonds). Pear Belle Hélène (but with white chocolate). Caramelized white peachs and cherry plums. Tonka beans. Crêpes with blueberries jam. Soft spices (coriander seed).

Palate: Full bodied. Zest of lemon. Pineapple. Medicines with plants. Hints of bitterness. Coriander becomes orange. Pastry with walnut notes. Plums.

Beautiful texture as usual with this Jura in Bourbon Cask then Port pipe . The pleasure is there even if it is not my favorite expression of this beautiful distillery!

    • Nose
beautiful vanilla, this beautiful new Jura note, coffee, cocoa, earthy, very light spice, smells slightly of sherry, which is probably what defines the port, fine vanilla, beautiful sweetness
    • Taste
tastes like a higher percentage, more intense Jura 10er, earthy, coffee, cocoa

At first a bit dusty with dry light wood, then a nice creamy sweetness shows up. Some marzipan, some vanilla, then in the background sweet reddish fruit notes. Some hay is also evident, as well as delicate dry nut notes.
    • Taste
      85 85
Again slightly dusty with dry light wood. The delicate sweetness also reappears. Dry tart chocolate, dry nuts / nutshells. This is followed by tart herbs and damp hay / straw.
    • Finish
      83 83
Pleasantly dry, delicately bitter, a bit woody. Unfortunately also a bit bubbly / alcoholic.

Overall I thought this was pretty good, not as peaty as I like, but fine. It was unremarkable at first (but not poor), but the flavors were interesting and intense.
    • Nose
      80 80
Nutty, honey, cerealy, malt. Winey wood.
    • Taste
      87 87
Fruit, big nutty flavor, major pepper.
    • Finish
      80 80
Some smoke, less pepper but there. Smokiness grows with sips. Salty on the tail end. Medium.

A bit sharp on the nose, the port adds nice grape and milk chocolate to the palate, a little thin and a shorter finish, but still worth trying as it is tasty!
    • Nose
      89 89
      Sharp wine/port notes, caramel, sweet,
    • Taste
      90 90
Grape sweetness, pepper, vanilla, chili pepper, cream, milk chocolate
    • Finish
      87 87
Shorter, but leaves behind pleasant grape and vanilla, hint of mint

Nose: cream, custard, flowers, fruits, a bun with raisins ...
Taste: sweet and pepper ... apples, honey, vanilla, nuts and chocolate ... there is a wine finish, but pleasant and not dominant. Well balanced.
Finish: long enough, pleasant, astringent, raisins
The first Jura, which I liked immediately on the nose. On occasion, I will repeat with pleasure.

    Colour: amber
Nose: sweet, oak, sweet fruits, cake, fruit peel, apples, pears.
Mouth: apples, some malts notes, fruit peel and stone, apples and pears
Finish: long, spices, maltness, pepper, apples, chocolate, pears.
Jura Tastival is a good balanced, tasty whisky with little bit unusual taste combination.

    ● The dress.
Amber, thick irregular tears, slow to large drops.

    ● The nose.
Vanilla, Pear-type white fruits, Muscat grapes, vanilla and yoghurt, grape marc, new wood.

    ● The mouth.
Ample, generous on fruit, pear and vanilla, young wood and dandelion, some saline and floral spray.

    ● The final.
    Short on pear and straw.

Yeah, too neutral to make me want, I always feel, in OB, that Jura Dalmore join the queue of boredom.

If it had to be given a subjective rating, it would be an 80.

The Port is one of my favorite finish, and this Jura was also pleasantly colored from this.
    • Nose
Fruits, honey, vanilla, orange peel and nutmeg. Spicy wine effects.
    • Taste
Sweet and spicy. Honey, vanilla, orange peel, gerbeaud and raisin. Massive spiciness from the Port Pipes.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy. Cointreau.

The better work from Jura. Still available for 125 to 135 EUR. Thanks to The Nectar for the generous sample.
    • Nose
The nose starts a bit sharp at first, but calms down to offer nice notes of walnuts with oranges, upholstered with pineapple on the barbecue and some cassis. Hints of cuberdons. Quite spicy. I am reminded mostly of camphor and nutmeg, but there is also a hint of curcuma. After a few moments, it turns somewhat creamy with honey and butterscotch. Nice.
    • Taste
The body is fine, the arrival powerful and spicy. Orange peel, walnuts, honey, vanilla and a sweet and sour touch of the port that reminds me of red fruit. It certainly is not over the top – wine influence is always tricky business – but comes close. Some tobacco, raisins and allspice. Assertive malt.
    • Finish
The finish is fairly long on orange liqueur. It remains spicy and makes your mouth pretty dry.

Sweet, sweet and sweet. Yeah there is some vanilla, wonderful port influence, grapes, some dark fruits but for me personally it lacks spices, malt, complexity beyond sweetness. Nice, drinkable, just not my dram

[June, 2017]  I had this dram during a Feis Ile tasting at Bonn.

The colour is amontillad and the texture shows fast legs and tears.  The nose is a little punchy first but this goes away quickly.  After that a sweet winey and herbal (camphor and the like) profile pops up.  The arrival in the mouth is hot, peppery and not very much coating.  The taste itself is very sweet (honey-vanilla-winey) and spicy, surprisingly almost no herbs are left from the nose.  The finish is rather short, peppery and I would call it "unimpressive".  With water the whole dram gets smoother but the nose flattens (really!) and all is more bourbon-ish.  Not sure if it is better neat or with some water added (be careful, do not add too much water!).

This an easy drinkable modern designed whisky that smells and tastes exactly like that:  designed...
