  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A spicy but pleasant medium aged grain from a sadly lost distillery. Good cask selection (from whiskybroker?) by this new Dutch independent bottler.
    • Nose
Quite aromatic with classic pencil shavings and sawdust. Followed by fruity sweetness of yellow apples, peach and apricot. Dried coconut as well. Some custard powder and cake mix. Spring flowers. A little soap at the background.
    • Taste
Sweet but firm notes of vanilla and cedar wood. Spices of pepper and nutmeg. Corn. Cream fudge intermingled with white chocolate. Touch of cocoa. Rum-toffee. There is a lot of complexity going on in this whisky.
    • Finish
Medium long. Dry. More spices of carraway and cumin. Cinnamon. Pine at the end. Well balanced.

A grain whisky that provides a bit of challenge, and is very rewarding. It goes beyond what most single grain whiskies has to offer. Lots of depth.
    • Nose
Plenty of saw dust, pine needles and wood glue, this is undeniably a grain whisky. It has a lovely sweet and sour vibe going on. Sweet from vanilla and corn, and sour from lime and lemon. There's some other fruit aromas too, like freshly cut apples and orange squeeze.
    • Taste
Creamy and sweet, with notes of oak, black licorice, menthol and cough syrup. There's some pepper and cumin, as well as cumin. Finally some oranges too, accompanied by fudge.
    • Finish
Soft spices and lingering notes of pine and menthol.

Very recognizable as grain, I was not patient enough - I recently learned that I have to let a good grain air for a long time. Not this time; was tasty, lots of fruit, very recognizable grain, pineapple and banana. I have to work on that, those grains.

    Colour: pale straw
Nose: ahhh, Velpon glue! Then some classic sawdust notes coming through, accompanied by fresh fruit: yellow and green apples notably. Some citric acidity mixed with the glue. When warmed up I also get some dried apricot and fresh red fruit too.
Taste: fresh woody tones (more cedar wood than oaky, I'd say), quite peppery (white pepper), and orange peel. Some light red fruit too: strawberries and redcurrant. Overall still quite harsh though.
Finish: more strawberries now, together with pine wood this time, and some faint orange zestiness. Some spiciness as well, cinnamon? Quite lingering.

A grain with depth and complexity, but still too grainy (and harsh/rough) to my liking. Very balanced and interesting nonetheless.

    25-points score: Nose: 20/21 / Taste: 20 / Finish: 21 / Balance: 22.

A little more pepper now, intense, drying mouthfeel, sweet, vanilla and candy, 'schuimblokken'. Long finish.

For the price, this whisky gives you a great value. Lot's of different fruit tastes, both cooked and fresh and a nice wood taste of the cask. A couple of drops of water bring out the taste of the fruit even better.

I had the pleasure to taste a sip or two of this nicely layered fruity whisky.

A very nice start of this new independent bottler, looking forward to the next release(s).
