Whisky Reviews for Girvan 2007 DT

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 81.75 points

  1. rottendon scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

For such a Frühpubertären, or actually still filial Grain not bad at all, has quite a bit of character. Honestly, I had feared worse there.
    • Nose
At first a very untypical for a grain nose, bright fruits, pears and mirabelle, vanilla and something floral hovers above. After a while a grain, the vegetables (mixed pickles) is there, floral vegetables with custard, the fruits have disappeared. Heat brings more vegetables and nose-biting alcohol.
    • Taste
Relatively thin even when starting, apart from a slightly alcoholic kick after a few seconds. Otherwise there is vanilla and, um, yes, vanilla? At the second sip then clearly bitter, herbal essence and the sugar water comes a little earlier. Reminiscent of bitter medicine on a sugar cube. The mouthfeel is also rather thin.
    • Finish
The finish is still a few tannins, but in principle it remains vanilla, some sugar water is still added, not unfriendly, however. Overall but rather short. At the second sip now also some white pepper.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

A drop of water makes the nose nice, then he is still pretty hot, but that gives rather an interesting kick than that it bothers. I like it. 47 € can be valid, if you consider mini slides, pad and single cask. (The sherry barrel is not very noticeable.)
    • Nose
rather closed, dry, mild white-peppery, gets water: first crispy-biscuit, cereals, cornflakes, vanilla, then fresh-fruity, slightly sour, pear, green apple, some pineapple, a hint of peppermint, somehow seems clear and clean
    • Taste
very sweet, orange marmalade, milk chocolate, Nutella, bites something, he stays in the mouth for a long time, he is always bitter, bitter, goes to the grassy, and a bit of herbal bitter
    • Finish
long, dry, pepper, glue, also has something from Slivovitz
