Very nice Bruichladdich with no flaws. Still those weird flaws or more character that Bruichladdich sometimes has, would be great.
    • Nose
Full of cream and fruit. Custard cake, honey, vanilla cream and other soft sweet stuff. Peach and soft ripe melon. The more time it has, the more it develops nice woodspices. Some hazelnuts.
    • Taste
Passionfruit with gooseberries that gives a very nice mouthcoating dram. Nectarines, red apples and later on oranges with nuts and spices.
    • Finish
Nutmeg, woodspices and vanilla. Again some nuts.

The nose is impressive, but initially this tastes way too dry for me (too much wood influence). After a few drams and some weeks time it mellows out a bit. I still believe though, this should have been bottled a few years earlier.
    • Nose

Nice one, honey, grapefruit, bitter oranges, peach, unripe pears, vanilla, pencil shavings, walnuts, spices like clove and nutmeg.
    • Taste
      87 87
Initially tastes quite fruity with bitter oranges and honey notes. Turns into a peppery woodheavy taste with a lot of bitter oak.
Moving through the bottle this excessive oakiness resides somewhat to the background, but it remains noticable.
    • Finish
      86 86
Fairly long: some dried fruitiness and the same bitter wood spices as observed in taste, albeit somewhat tuned down. Extra time gives the finish some more warming honey notes.

The smell is shy at first, but what happens later is poetry. Beautiful nose: long evolving in time and showing ever new and completely different faces: tropical fruits, vanilla sweeteness, dusty oak.
The taste is very intense, but unfortunately the taste lacks complexity compared to the smell.

    89 / 100
    • Nose
surprisingly fresh, apples straight from the tree, then vanilla, mango, delicately citrus at the end, in the background - sea air, after adding water clearly sweeter icing, vanilla again, a dusty bookshelf, almonds, amaretto and finally: pineapple fruits ( !!!) and pleasant, dry wood.
    • Taste
at first: sweet and oily, nutty, almonds, amaretto again, milk chocolate, then sour oranges, slightly waxy after adding water
    • Finish
medium long and creamy, sparkling, with notes of orange peel

    Nose:

Dusty oak, fresh and dried fruits, which makes it very complex. Stunning nose, one of the best I have nosed for a while.

    Taste:

Little thin in texture but that is not a problem, very  fresh for a 24y old, I really taste the Bruichladdich profile. This is very good

    Finish:

Not that long, it lacks in the finish, a shame, because the nose and palate promised so much more.

  10. KayMeertens scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Less cask-driven than last year's edition (91747), more typical Laddie. 89/90.
    • Nose
A soft, slightly cookie-like, maltiness. Peach, vanilla, apple and white grape. Then dough.
    • Taste
Pastry, orange, apple, peach, honey, vanilla, pear and nuts.
    • Finish
More nuts. Vanilla, pastry, apple, peach, strawberry, caramel and a little wine gum.
