Whisky Reviews for Peatside 2009 TWCC

- Peaty and fruity perfectly balanced
- This PX barrel is very funny to me. The nose shows little of the classic PX influences and the taste has strong junk notes. Too bad, this is my first TWCC whiskey, which disappoints me.
First, I smell sweet smoke with bacon flavor. Interestingly, bright fruits such as apple and pear hide behind it. Later, yeast, strawberry and roasted nuts follow. With water, the PX Fass ripening becomes more tangible: dark fruits take over and the smoke becomes more discreet.
Unfortunately, the taste shows clear miss notes. The start tastes like rubber or the soles of old sneakers. The overall impression is leathery and musty. With water, the missing notes go back a bit and orange is added.
The finish is eternally long with leather and the sweetness of sherry.
- Bottler says, it's a Glenglassaugh (no real blend)
