    An enticing sherry character! A bold, rich and luscious Deanston where sherry and dark fruits shine through all the way with great elegance and complexity. Good balance of sweetness and spiciness supported by a subtle dry and bitter backbone. No water needed as it masks the lovely sweetness and fruity flavours. Certainly one for the sherry aficionado.

    • Nose
      The sherry is immediately present along with delicate dark fruits, figs, plums and dates. Lovely sweet with brown sugar, vanilla and a hint of milk chocolate. With time dumpy notes of tobacco leaves, touch of leather and fine oak arrive. Very aromatic and appealing nose. Improves with time in the glass.
    • Taste
      Bold and intense on the palate. Mouth coating and watering with lots of sherry, brown sugar, raisins, plums and dark chocolate. Becomes spicy and slightly dry with hints of oak, tobacco leaves and cracked black pepper, accompanied with delicate notes of cinnamon, toffee and vanilla. The spiciness increases with a second sip.
    • Finish
      The finish shows good length with warming and slightly bitter notes of dark chocolate, leather, black pepper and oak spice. Very chewy and tasty.

      With water: Soft and round on the nose when a few drops of water are added. Sherry, dark fruits and oak spice are still present. The spiciness and dumpy notes, however, are significantly tamed. Surprisingly less sweet on the palate with tamed sherry flavours and dark fruits. On the other hand, the spiciness and peppery notes increase along with dry oak, dark chocolate and tobacco leaves. The finish is medium long, warm and dry with slightly bitter notes of oak, leather and espresso.

    • Nose
      Intensive Sherryaromen wie z. B. von Datteln, Feigen und Rosinen. Spater etwas kräutrige, ätherische Noten. Der hohe Alkoholgehalt ist nicht spürbar.
    • Taste
      Sehr intensiv spiegeln sich die Noten aus der Nase wieder. Zusätzlich dunkle Schokolade, Espresso sowie Eiche. Dabei aber sehr mild im Sinne von wenig alkoholisch und rund.
    • Finish
      Lang und wärmend mit einer tollen Bitterkeit.

    was a blindsample - I would not have come here on Deanston - where is the sulfur? Tasty - voluminous - but so much sherry - that almost no whisky can be found anymore

      intense red wine-like red fruit acidity - very succinctly fruity - balsamic, fermented raspberries, currants, grape seeds, tart wood - but rather a vinous woody note than one from a whisky barrel, with more time in the glass also increases a nice sweetness with some wax, tobacco, leather and tannins on - here you can feel age - behind the tyischen SherryfassWachs hides easily Oily orange peel and a touch of mint - the nose has a lot of strength, alcohol is only noticeable on the edge

      wow - fruity sweet powerful with beautiful intensive spicy tingling acidic antipole, light chocolate note which becomes increasingly tart and volumizing, dry oak, tart spicy vegetal, chili, with each sip of the fruitiness is still voluminous, which has really something on the ribs - grape must, Grantapfelsaft, baking cocoa, increasingly sweet milk chocolate with honey, beautiful texture - a lot of power but no noticeable alcohol

      mouth-filling tobacco, dry, slightly cooling mint against warming chilinote - very long with expiring fruitiness and lasting tingle, see a lot of vanilla at the very end

    This is a dream dram with very complex sherry notes that develop in a great finish. An excellent option to taste it at original cask strength.

    A nice whisky, which has clear parallels to the Deanston 20 for me. The spice, the sulfuric, the light pepper note, nut, powerful and aromatic. Not very sweet but still full of sherry. The harsh Fassaromen dominate towards the end. A nice malt but somehow put on. I would not need a whole bottle now.

    An interesting and very aromatic Deanston from a First Fill Sherry Butt! This malt is extremely multi-layered and changeable, which is exactly this interaction for me the attraction. Intensive leather and hazelnut flavor, fruity and intense plum aroma paired with an indefinable spice note. I like it very much!
    • Nose
      Deep and dark sherry notes rise intensely on the first nosing. Slightly musty and wet leather flavors mingle with toasted aromas and dark plums. The alcohol is integrated harmoniously and the syrupy drops adhering to the glass wall exude a fruity sweetness. The leather aroma is more intense, a hint of sweetish and dried tobacco leaves stand out from the wet and musty leather. Here and there, sweet fruit aromas sparkle and cognac-infused dates and raisins come into their own. A touch of vanilla, a pinch of orange flavor and the alcohol becomes more intense and dominant. After some time, a certain freshness and a touch of mint rises in the nose. Suddenly the Deanston unloads without warning a fresh and fruity plum and plum flavor and lets forget the musty leather note.
    • Taste
      Fruity and refreshing sherry flavors on the first sip on the palate and on the tongue. Spicy wood aromas are permeated by a sweet and creamy milk chocolate note, the palate fills with subtle sharpness and plump warmth. Fruity wood notes and chocolate play together, the sweet milk chocolate turns into tart dark chocolate. Hazelnut pieces and roasted almonds fall into the creamy chocolate, slowly the leather from the nose makes itself discreetly noticeable in the taste. The longer I dedicate myself to Deanston, the more flavors come to light. Sweet and creamy, the Deanston exudes its idiosyncratic aroma, the slightly musty leathery flavor becomes more dominant on the tongue, a nut mixture spreads in the mouth.
    • Finish
      With this idiosyncratic but very pleasant and tasty aroma the taste goes into the finish. Dark chocolate sticks to the palate, the hazelnuts return. a slightly tart wood and walnut note is in the air. Chubby warm and creamy sweet spread for a long time its great aroma in the mouth.
