Notes and aromas as cardboard and urinal cake are part of the 'ugly cavalry' in my book, the fact that these actually complement to the complexity speaks for itself.
I guess the recipe for this batch was heavily relying on Dailuaine and Cardhu, without any island malts in the vatting, but with a bigger part for the grain whiskies.
It doesn't have harsh flaws, but it doesn't have any traits worth mentioning either.
This is drinkable, but it's disappointing as well.
at first kind of spirity and flat, grain whisky, then malty, a little cardboard, faint urinal cake, becomes better after a moment, some figs, some orange zests, caramel, sometimes a little muscovado sugar even, marzipan, some old dry bay leaves, some juniper, cheap lemon concentrate, rounded but flat.
fruity and tingling, citrusy sweet, decent grain whisky sweetness, malty, some cardboard, prickly pears, a little pineapple, develops towards pepperiness, nice body, round and refreshing, shy in terms of flavour and depth.
pepper, grain whisky sweetness, cardboard, tingling, overripe pineapple slices.
