Tough and oily streaks stick to the glass wall. In slow motion, syrupy drops are released from the streaks and slowly find their way back into the glass. Strong and intense the Balvenie shimmers amber in the glass, dark sherry aromas stand out of the glass. With these wonderful impressions begins the tasting of the 15-year-old Balvenie from a single cask. I close my eyes ... Dried berries and grapes mix with roasted aromas and fresh sawdust at first, milk chocolate is dotted with sweet caramel and ends in a sweet and fruity blend. Slowly, the alcohol content is noticeable, thick honey drips on intensively scented orange slices, a subtle note of coffee is noticeable. The fruit flavors become more intense, pine needles and a few drops of resin exude a scent of forest in the evenings. There are fir trees around me, the forest floor is steaming and branches crack in the dusk. Caramel and dried berries suddenly leave my thoughts, peach and apricot emit a wonderfully fruity aroma. My salivation is stimulated massively, I long eagerly after the first sip.

Resinous and spicy, the first sip flows creamy over the tongue. Fruity wood aromas and pine needles fill the palate, creating a subtle wooden sharpness. The sharpness is intensified, a pinch of white pepper spreads on the tongue. Slowly, the heat fades and dried orange flavors stick to the tongue. Dark berries and grapes mix with subtle sharpness, dark and old caramel comes to light. From sweet milk chocolate has long become dark dark chocolate, freshly brewed espresso is distributed discreetly bitter on the tongue. Old and wet leather flavors mingle with the intense espresso note, the peppery sharpness lies discreetly in the background and flashes occasionally. With sharp woody aromas and a fine bitter note, the taste goes slowly into the finish.

The sharpness still sticks between the tongue and the palate. The espresso flavors are still very present, spicy oak and pine needles follow. The dark fruit flares flash again, chocolate and dark caramel finely round off the bitter note. For a long time the wood and forest aromas remain in memory and sound only very slow and leisurely.
