that's damn tasty, combines the best of bourbon and malt - a beautiful oak-chocolate fruit candy
    • Nose
sweet, heavy, fruity aroma of aromatic virgin oak - after bourbon (schnapps), honey, light distant corn note, very strong vanilla, the fruitiness reminiscent of rum pot, fresh litter with a touch of adhesive note
    • Taste
very intense sweet vanilla, soft fresh delicious oak - aromatic herbaceous but without bitterness, no alcohol noticeable, but the aromas are very strong at the same time, some mint and chocolate very tasty
    • Finish
      warming, flattering, mediocre, minty, spicy

Okay-ish dram that doesn't quite fit into SMWS's category of "Deep, rich & dried fruits", in my humble opinion. More like "Spicy & sweet".
    • Nose
Spices, cinnamon and glue. Behind that, vanilla. I didn't notice any change after adding water.
    • Taste
Spicy chilli and curry come first for me, followed by sweet oak notes and orange peel. No considerable change in taste with water, but the mouth feel gets thicker, stickier.
    • Finish
Long with orange peel, spices and caramelised sugar.

  5. Calmar scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A good talk, young and raw, with a strong grain and moonshine influence, but very diverse, spicy, very positive, festive, summer.
    • Nose
Open, wet, grain, malt, moonshine, carpentry workshop, a few needles and resins, thinner, light nail varnish, caramel, candy drops, lemon candied fruits, peaches, apple juice.
    • Taste
Dense, rich, sweet berry-citrus tones with grain, malt, spicy and tart oak; some needles and ether, pickled ginger.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, mead, scanty notes, berry jam, lemon and orange candied fruits, light wood shades, cranberries, mountain ash.

    SMWS tasting notes:

The aromas quickly deviated from the common path and promptly arrived in a funky and curious world of dried papaya, strong black tea and new snakeskin boots. A deep fruitiness enveloped the nose with golden raisons, toasted malt loaf and Tokaji dessert wine. Tea tree oil and clotted cream introduced a palate rich in the myriad of spices found in a Turkish market. A veritable melting pot of flavours as coriander, herbal cough syrup and tropical punch bustled with hard candy, spicy aniseed balls and ras el hanout. After spending 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead it was transferred to a virgin oak hogshead for the remainder of its maturation.

DRINKING TIP: For a blustery day on the hills.
