This is seriously good whisky at an OK price.
I suspect that if this had been bottled at 40% it would have been just another dudd. But that 46,3% is really spot on.
    • Nose
      87 87
      Very sweet and fruity.
      Lovely honey, light citrus.
      Apples, hint of vanilla.
      Barley sugar and light oak.
    • Taste
      89 89
This delivers everything that the nose promise.
Delicious white fruits dipped in honey.
Apple and pear with a sprinkle of pepper.
A nice ballance between the light impression of sweet fruit and the more substantial and robust spice.
    • Finish
      88 88
Very close to a long finish, actually I'd say long.
      Both sweetness and spice linger.
Some nutty flavours every now and then.
A playfull finish that makes you hold off on the next sip just to enjoy it.

    (Bought march 2020. Bottle code 1741915 L508:3018074) Tasted 01.04.2020.
APPEARANCE: Medium gold / deep white wine colour. Much lighter than the Deanston 12 YO. Quite viscous, noticeable long, slim legs on the side of the glass.
NOSE: Much purer bourbon notes than the 12 YO; quite a bit of dried and fresh banana, vanilla, dried coconut, sweet wood and something solventy, direction nail polish remover. A perfumed note, almost soapy. A few drops of water transforms the soapy to fresh tropical fruits; mango, guava, papaya, cantaloupe. I think this has only been bourbon cask matured (86-88p without, 88-89 with water)
TASTE: The arrival is a little lighter than the 12, but the taste is long. On the mid palate there are a number of orchard fruits, sweet barley juice and summer honey, but it is all rather “dry” and come in a mineral, slightly austere wrapping. Fascinating. Benefits from (a lot of) time in the glass. With a few drops of water it becomes sweeter and the sweet barley juice more pronounced. (87-88p)
FINISH: The exit is mineral, again with fresh engine oil, steel and some white pepper. In the aftertaste the white pepper becomes more prominent. A few drops of water doesn’t change much. (86p)
OVERALL: Deanston has made a textbook bourbon matured malt and wrapped it in a thin, see through mineral austerity wrapping. Needs time. Fascinating. TOTAL SCORE: 87 points.

Deanston 15 years Organic !! And again a hammer filling from Deanston! Honey bomb instead of sherry bomb !!
Who wants to experience the distillery character of Deanston should buy this bottle. the honey note is so intense, I have never experienced a whisky!
Aroma: honey and vanilla, fruity & sweet oak Taste: vanilla and malty aromas, with the full-strength honey note known from Deanston Finish: long with a saccharine sweetness.

I think this is, core range-wise, where Deanston gets interesting and starts to show some character. Really good buy.

More concentrated than the 12 and virigin oak. A slightly caramelized/toasty kind of vannila. Minerality and something leafy/grassy. Something vegetal too.

I want to say caramel popcorn, but I can't decide. The toastiness is layered. Very nice.
    • Taste
      82 82
Toast and biscuits. Vanilla. Slight but detectable tannins. Somehow, I think it lacks some of the oily mouthfeel of the 12 and virgin oak. Usually it's the opposite.
    • Finish
      86 86
Much better finish than the 12 and virigin oak. Instead of just vanilla and sweetness, here's a scones-y, brown sugary end!

      Sweet and floral.
A meadow of fresh flowers and fudge, then bright fruits.
    • Taste
      87 87
      Intense, sweet and full-bodied.
Sweet dried apricots, forest honey and a very mild oak.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Fruity and dry, medium length.
Citrus fruit, tart apple and finally the surprisingly mild oak.

    Very honest single malt.
    • Nose
      76 76
Honey. Barley, straw/hay. Vanilla and banana. A fresh hint of citrus. A little ‘light’ in my opinion, but pleasant on the nose.
    • Taste
      77 77
Very viscous/oily. Creamy and reminds me of dessert. Sweet and spicy, classic bourbon cask notes. Nice!
    • Finish
      78 78
The 15 years shows through a bitterness in the back of the mouth. Long and pleasant finish after all, though.

A very drinkable whisky - lots of honey notes. Not sure of the added value of it being organic - like a sterile bullet.
    • Nose
      80 80
Some wood notes - some vanilla. Quite subtle.
    • Taste
      83 83
Easy to drink - lots of honey and sweetness.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium length - with a bit of heat.
