[August, 2017]  I bought this bottle for 145 Euro in May, 2017.  Somehow I ignored Bladnoch for many years but since I discovered it five years ago I really do love this malt.  It owns a trademark fresh green apples flavour that reminds me of refreshing cider drinks.

Same with this dram.  It has a nice fresh and fruity nose that shows this remarkable cider with a shot of lemon spike.  The mouthfeel is warming and coating with no distracting moments at all.  The taste offers a balanced mix of fruity, sugary and wooden/spicy flavours that is still very fresh after the 26 years in the cask.  The finish is of medium length and again surprisingly fresh.  Some water opens the nose and taste even further and releases a lot more aromas and flavours this way - so let it swim for your full pleasure!

A really lovely dram on a summer night (that I surely will appreciate in January too)...

Classic old Bladnoch, great, gentle flavors, very elegant and above all lemon cake in the flower meadow.
    • Nose
at first a bit dusty oak, but it fades away. Then gentle, elegant, sweet, flower meadow, honey, lemon cake, a little bit mineral
    • Taste
slightly tart, citrus, oak, mineral, lemon zest, but also honey and therefore nicely mouth-filling and balanced.
    • Finish
long, soft, honey, oak and citrus.

Bladnoch hadn't really been on my list yet ... very nice Lowlander!
    • Nose
Old wood, underlaid with a bit of mold at the beginning. But that goes away quickly and there are fresh, lemony notes. Pineapple, mandarins, pie crust. Very mild spices.
    • Taste
Smooth and creamy start, lies nice and soft on the tongue. Pineapple and lemons, fresh yeast dough, some wood.
    • Finish
Long, still creamy, slightly peppery, lemon peel and cocoa.

    • Nose
Honey, cereals, grasses, apple, melon, lemon, some flower meadow, some peach, some mango, dried apricot, green plants
    • Taste
Apple, melon, apricot, lime, lemon, wood, dried apricot, a little pepper

Nice fruity whisky. Had this one in a blind tasting, and never would have thought of a Bladnoch for I don't find this lowlander profile in it (as far as there is such a profile, since I've been mistaken many time already on blind tastings which these kind of lowlanders).
    • Nose
      85 85
Fruity, a bit sour, citrus, apples, and also some peach. Pretty full scent.
    • Taste
      86 86
Strong, powerful. Fruity, citrus, some caramel sweetness, later on even some peach.
    • Finish
      86 86
Still very powerful, sweet and fruity, peach, some honey, mediul long.

I find this to be very greasy and buttery, also cookie dough and some nuttiness (almonds) and dusty old oak on top of that. Only slight fruit notes of lemon and faint vanilla with honey on the second plan. Really liking those fat buttery notes.
    • Taste
      89 89
Very fat and buttery, vanilla, more fruit (citrus) now, bitter orange, lemon zest, lemon curd, honey, butter cake, a nicely developing nutmeg and clove like spicinesss with a pinch of pepper.
    • Finish
      88 88
Pretty long: vanilla butter, honey cookies, sweeter citrus, ending on some bitter drying oak notes.

Finest ex-Bourbon cask goods, very balanced, carefully matured, great barrels!
    • Nose
      89 89
Lemon juice, cotton candy, lemon curd, lemon jelly candies.
    • Taste
      90 90
Great oiliness! Lemon mixed with honey and the finest olive oil, yummy.
    • Finish
      89 89
Walking in the direction of grapefruit very quickly. Extremely clean and not sour long finish, has something of pineapple chewy candy.

Nice malt from the bourbon barrel. The Bladnoch character still comes through and goes well with the barrel.
A successful bottling that I enjoyed.
    • Nose
Pear. Peach (more peel than pulp). A little pineapple. Acacia honey. Bitter almond flavor. A few citrus notes come through too. Plus a meadow of flowers. Tree sap, but also wood dust.
    • Taste
At first sweet. Wood sugar and malt sweetness. Then a mixture of acidity and sweetness. The above fruits mix with citrus fruits. Then nice wood flavor that tingles pleasantly. This also causes salivation.
    • Finish
Tart honey. Grapefruit. Hay. It is getting drier and the oak is noticeable.

Perhaps the best and tastiest bladnoch I've ever had in a glass.
Extremely typical with light fruits, lots of flower meadows, lush grass, citrus fruits, light, subtle oak note, at the same time full-bodied and still not too heavy, hay, sugar syrup.
    Great. Highly recommended.

  18. Gaija scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

[Quick note] Deserves more time and didn't have the best place in the line-up. Grassier than other Bladnoch 1990 and also sligthly funkier, with sour dough and white fish going along more traditionnal notes of lime, green leaves and sencha tea. Not necessarily my favourite Bladnoch 1990 but still a very fresh and good dram in its own right.
