Part of an ancient malts lineup

Really very good stuff, but not quite on the level of some other Brora officials.
    • Nose
      92 92
Waxy, chicken stock and fish sauce. Beautiful elegant waxy - creamy - lemon.
    • Taste
      92 92
Honey - beeswax, angel food cake and whipped cream. Salty and briney. Great mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      91 91
Fresh, long, salty, brine, lemon. Very Clynelishy which is no surprise considering the vintage.

The colour is gold. The nose is a complex, slightly changed through the time. It starts with sweet notes of apples, sweet fruits, vanilla and muffins. Further the minerality appears. The aroma moves to salty and sweet notes of salty caramel and salty butterscotch. Further nose moves to light smoke, old leather, citrus, tobacco, coffee and dry hay notes. At the end appears light buckwheat notes. It’s a perfect aroma. You could pleasure them long time. The palate starts with salty sweet notes of sea salt and ripe fruits. Further the taste moves to delicate dryness, oily, minerality, cream and light smoke notes. The finish is very long, lightly dry with notes of ripe fruits, old leather, salt, cream, butterscotch, old furniture varnish. This whisky has a perfect balance. Awesome! I gave 94 points

On the nose, smoothness smoke, exotic fruits put forward.
On the palate, fine vanilla, wood, feeling of old leather, fine white pepper, then comes the soot with a little minty side, it is paradoxically sweet, creamy, waxy, rather oiled, with the fruits coming back on the palate (on the baked apple and the pear!)
In the final, even softness and long finish on old leather, more concentrated fruits, and ashes!

A dram that must surely take the time to incorporate and digest, which denotes real flavors!
(Note Brora working with Clynelish, even if it's closed, to produce JWL blends!)

Nose - delicate, beeswax, peaches, pears, lemons, dried grass, light sea, and all this is complemented by a trace of smoke.
Taste - sweet wax, vanilla, honey, more smoke, minerality and more maritime notes.
Finish - long, very crisp, waxy, a little salt, pleasantly spicy.

Well defined, not as good as the 14th release though.

Nose: Fine, green apple, salted butter, salted caramel, ore, light smoke, vanilla milk foam, followed by citrus, licorice and the comfort and satisfaction of being surrounded by wheat ears in the field.

Palate: Freshly washed fresh fruit tray, as well as wheat ears, white pepper, dried tobacco, nectarine, sea salt milk green, crisp varnish, ore and light smoke.

Balance, Body: A medium-bodied wine with a strong structure, chewy, good fat and crisp flavor symbiotic symbiosis, excellent balance, and strong wine power.

Finish: Medium length. Soft leather, dew, fruit plate, raisins, light smoke, ash.

Colin points out that 51.9% was the leave vote. True say!

N: More savoury than the Rare Malts 1975 vintage with a little fruitiness, but again, it’s not the sexiest Brora around.
T: Oh there we are: arrive, boom!,… and release. Delivers at full throttle with Indian-esque aromatic spices and a hint of farmy smoke – is all I wrote. Sustaining.
F: Lime barley into dusty raisins, light citrus and more dry airborne farmy touches.
C: Very decent if not the very best of the Special Releases. Same score as before as it turns out, so my palate wasn’t too off-kilter after all!
