Whisky Reviews for Bruichladdich 1992 MM

  1. Hemdl scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

In terms of taste, this could be a great malt, unfortunately, the weak nose and the moderate finish here haggle the overall impression clearly. There are many better bottlings from Murray McDavid.
    • Nose
Surprisingly strong and slightly alcoholic, despite drinking strength. At first extremely spicy, with many herbs and oak it becomes more pleasing and pleasing with increasing time in the glass. After a few minutes, the wine then also creates the first notes of fragrance and red fruit to transport. Overall for my taste but too many herbs and wood, too strong alcohol influence. The nose rather moderate.
    • Taste
The impression from the nose is - fortunately - not quite so on the tongue. First, the herbs and oak are still very superficial, after a few seconds finally pushes the wine more vigorously on the tongue. The alcohol compared to the nose significantly better integrated and no longer so present, at the same time now noticeably fruity and winy. Light tannins, some red fruits - like a nice red wine, only more subtle and not so overbearing.
    • Finish
Medium long, with a clear tendency to dryness. Here now with clear, strong oak and a few bittern notes. The wine unfortunately completely disappeared, too bad.

  2. Daren did not rate this whisky Member Senior

Very dominant, as in Bolgheri, is also the wine here. He is also more alcoholic than the other two.
But here is a lot different.
A walk in a meadow with dry hay and herbs. In the middle of blackberry and other berry bushes, the sour-sweet notes bring.
In the distance, a young lady seems to paint her nails. A light breeze lacquer I mean to hear.
Time ... All three need it. I can see that.

    But now!
Beautiful creamy-sweet 1st nose after about 15 minutes.
Chocolate raisins meet fresh beeswax and maybe something like strawberry. Delicious!
I also notice wood and fresh hazelnuts.
Delicately? No! Tart and cheeky is more likely to happen.
Tobacco and wood dominate. And here, too, the origin is clearly visible again.
    A nice, not unpleasant bitterness.
In the finish I have something very great.
Exotic fruits. But an unusual sneaks into the foreground here: kiwi.
I did not have that and I'm even more happy.
Delicate pineapple, mango play alongside the wonderful vinous grape.
    I am in love again.
    2. Swallow.
Old, moldy wood and tobacco ... somewhat unusual, but again the rapid change to physalis and exotic fruits. Great.

In the aftertaste I have something strangely fishy. Unusual, but not unpleasant.

I think clearly. I did not expect that much exoticism. Fits.
