Very good Ledaig indeed! Lots of smoke and a had enough influence from the refill butt. It's not (!) a sherry monster! Bottled at perfect age, to leave enough room for typical smoky Ledaig taste, but it is not too young to be rough.
Funny fact: I don't know if it's by coincident, but Cadenhead labeled this Ledaig as "Highland" on the bottle ...

    A balanced and bold Ledaig.
    • Nose
Big smoke with maritime hints, barbecued ham with cloves. Distillery oiliness. Herbal elements.Blueberry fruitiness? Farmyard aromas, wet straw, hemp, sweaty saddle.
    • Taste
A big, dry, smoky start, roasted barley. Some dry grass, smoked cashew and pepper. Water added, some sweetness, a touch of peppermint, a hint of smoking old cooking oil.
    • Finish
      Nutty, firm, slightly hot. Smoky.

It has a bite and can be easily diluted. Very interesting (not nice-interesting, but good-interesting) nose, quite demanding on the tongue. Not too obvious sherry, but unfortunately disappeared too quickly from the back of the screen.

Undiluted, it gives you an idea of what you could smell if he just let you. A few drops of water - from the pipette, eight in number - work wonders and release a musty, smoky note, deliver a moist cellar with natural soil and rich mushroom culture - Graf von Rummelsdorf sends its regards. Herbal broth, men's chocolate, raisins. The latter aromas emerge a long time after the nose has settled in the basement.

Also slightly diluted with a very strong start. It first makes itself felt with a violent, slightly pointed punch on the tongue before it then warmly lines the entire mouth. Liquorice, herbs. On the tongue, the sherry barrel prevails much more than in the nose: grapes, raisins, dried dates, coffee beans, marjoram. Dry wood, balanced smoke that does not dominate.
    • Finish
      85 85
Short and crispy, dry, chocolatey. Smoke loafs around a bit, as if he doesn't know where he was going again. Then off, like the other flavor colleagues before.

quite a typical example of a great young powerful Ledaig, if you like this profile it's really good, if it is not your cup of tea it can be quite overwhelming

Probably the best Ledaig I drank up until 2018-11. Of course it needs water, but it's also fabulous without :)
I congratulate Cadenhead's on their 175th anniversary with this awesome bottling. Sláinte!

Fabulous barn peat greatly balanced with the sherry. There's also some minty oak wood, dark sugar, some raisins,

Strong, bold, ripe red fruit, dark sugar, dark chocolate, ground coffee, all covered in this lovely barn peat. Fantastic.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long, getting medium bitter, quite drying, the peat keeps covering the tongue while the ripe red fruit slowly dies off. The dark sugars stick to the sides of the tongue.
