I think we have here a version that appears a bit more shaped, in the sense of strength and smoothness. However, it is also very pleasant and interesting enough to drink. Good complexity with a variety of lovely orange-based scents and flavours.
Fruity, oily, pleasant. The 46% shows itself in the roundness of the nose. Freshly pressed orange juice, banana and pineapple in combination with walnut oil. It is much less “edgy” than other Ben Nevis (likely due to the strength), slightly less expressive, but I find that alright. Lovely touches of sweet flowers, dry white wine and butter. The oranges runs as a tread through the nose, without the help of other tropical fruits that were in the other Ben Nevis we tried recently. Orange chocolate filling, orange sweets, and orange zest. A very faint hint of copper (but it is there). A good balanced nose with plenty to like.
Prickling orange soda, a touch of ginger, flares mint leaves, charred wood, nutmeg, barbecued pineapples, all in perfect balance. Also more tropical fruits than in the nose. Very potent tropical fruit juice. Good quality. All kinds of orange-y things. A bit more monolithic on oranges, but good nonetheless. Medium finish with more fruit juice, fresh oils and a hint of earth. I like it a lot. A tiny taste of charcoal and a zingy acidity that is perfect.
