Whisky Reviews for Speyside Region Very Old Selection Sb

- A mixture of very old malts makes this bottle fly! A distinct tone of leather and deep caramel together with fruit and vanilla.
when it sits in the glass for a while, same as eclectic, i get peat, leather but then i think it takes of to hints of green leafes, oak
kind of sweet at first, like a refill sherry cask, but somewhat peaty taking over, its not bad at all.
i think i appreaciate the taste now more then first time.
- Zanzibar Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet, with maple syrup, cider and caramel, as well as lime blossom, milk chocolate and a little chili
Taste: Sweet start, with honey, caramel, maple syrup, then drier, with tart herbs and a delicate citrus note
Finish : Dry, herbal king, with some caraway
- Rather light-bodied. A quite decent dram, but it's not very complex or exciting - there are, however, some really nice flavour combinations going on.
A bit closed to begin with (needs some extra time in the glass for me), a bit of smoke, fresh peat, fruity and nutty at the same time, vanilla, oak, redcurrants and leather.
Some smoke, almond extract or perhaps rather marzipan, caramel, dried fruity tea, leather, just a tad of ash, some spices and recurrent hints of honey.
Medium - some smoke, mellow toasted oak, cream, unburnt peat, vanilla and there's some fruitiness going on in the background throughout.
A rather complex nose and it takes a moment before you can separate the different ingredients. I find Honey, Vanilla, Canned plums, Christmas cake, a hint of wood and toffee
Enters with honey sweetness, then increasing pepper and spices, as they fade away it is replaced with a increasing "dry" feeling before taken over by bitter almonds
Medium long finish fading out in mild spices, old oak and bitter almonds
Its defenitly not smelling young.
Peppers, sweet maybe some honey, some light fruityness.
with water: Less peppers, more fruit.
Fruity and somewhat dry at first, grows in your mouth.
With water: Not dry anymore, smooth and silky. Fruity and sweet - honey tones.
Somewhat vanilla tones at the finish, the finish is medium long and very pleasent.
with water: Medium short. Finish is dying to much with water.
