Great part for 9 years, but why did he have to get out of the barrel? That would have given a top material in 10 years.
    • Nose
Really a tropical sweetness, a mixture of yellow fruits and grapes, pear puree, malty sweetness, a little vanilla, water makes it softer but the oak comes to the fore
    • Taste
A wonderful malty sweetness at the beginning, sweet grapes, creamy to peppery on the palate, nice spiciness, water makes it on the tongue super smooth and creamy, really great, yet it remains a bit peppery
    • Finish
Malty and spicy with creamy sweetness, now the spice dominates, the whole thing always stays somewhat peppery here

More oak-forward than I expected for a scotch, to the point where you could call this bourbon-y.

    1st-fill ex-bourbon

N: A resinous cask with lots of fresh summer fruits, scratch & sniff stationary/sheets, and vanilla lemon essence that suggests (sawdusty) sponge cake. Overall a synthetic nose with sour-sweet new oak.
T: Waxy peach acetone gives a funny twang alongside a strange dryness also,… A few more notes of lavender and grandmas [rose] soap will do ya.
F: More waxy peach acetone, a strange [now] vanilla dryness and an underlying sour- bitter.
    C: So so.Scores a C-

    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Pale brass

Flavour Profile: Juicy, oak & vanilla

Inviting aromas of a cinnamon spiced apple cookie crumb cake
with a thick crust, orange & white chocolate sponge and baked peaches with
raspberries and crushed Amaretti biscuits were followed by the incredibly sweet
taste of tropical mango vanilla cupcakes and grilled pineapple sundaes. In the
finish however there was the gentle heat of a spiced sweet potato and coconut
soup. Add water, close your eyes and you will drift away on a rum cake layered
with coconut rum buttercream frosting. Combine this with a juicy tropical fruit
punch or a Blue Lagoon cocktail and the living is easy.

Drinking tip: Will take you to the tropics
