  1. The_Independent scored this whisky 90 points Expert Junior

This Glen Els has changed a lot over the last 1 1/2 years the bottle was opened with me. At first, the smoke flavors with the typical smoked bacon were superimposed on everything, this whisky has evolved significantly in the air and gained considerable complexity and quality. A recommendation for friends of sweet, heavy and slightly smoky bottlings.
    • Nose
      91 91
Sweet and spicy, the whisky is in the glass. Heavy, sweet pastries with caramelized sugar, toffee and raisins are enriched by sandalwood and tree resin to spicy, almost herbaceous wood notes. The smoky notes - smoked bacon and a touch of wet dog - can be found in the background. It is remarkable how well the quite high alcohol content is already integrated despite the young age. The smell is intense, complex and really delicious!

Thanks to the very high alcohol content of the whisky is strong and voluminous, a clear tingling reveals now but the youthful age.
The basic character is extremely sweet - raisins, sugar cake, caramel are the superficial flavors. Then comes through a strong hazelnut note, it goes over in walnut and is a bit bitter. Again, I find in the background a slight smoke.

The Glen Els says goodbye with an impressive finish, which is characterized by walnut, baking cocoa, toffee and raisins.

  2. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

    Colour: red amber.
Nose: dust, sweet fruits, berries, raspberry, spices, berries jam, christmas cake, leather and tobacco notes.
Mouth: sweet with berries jam, spices, ripe fruits, black currant and oak notes.
Finish: long and sweet with spices, chocolate, berries jam and dust notes.
I was very surprised! The Glen Els is a perfectly balanced, sweet, berry and tasty whisky. I gave 92 points.

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Very tasty, because everything fits together, see button, which simply results in a delicious, coherent image in the head and that fits also to woodsmoked Amarone - everything done right.
    • Nose
this is the only one of the four, where I have the Woodsmoke in the nose, goes in the direction of sweet-burned, roasted almonds, almond brittle, burnt biscuits ... to malt, pecan and an initially quite subtle dark black berry note, the with time (and some water) becomes more distinct and redder, redcurrant, grape, red gooseberry
    • Taste
Gäb's tender, bitter grape and walnut chocolate would probably taste like this. Or better: tender-bitter dried berry and walnut chocolate. On lightly baked biscuit. :-)
      Delicious. Nuff said.
    • Finish
long and warm, chocolate, a hint of plum jam, a bit of camillan, gentle sharpness

Unfortunately quite Fasslastig, the nose is very nice and fruity, the rest can not match. Many tanins. Unfortunately not mine

Except for the extremely dry finish really delicious.
    • Nose
Fruity, sour, rather dry and dry than sweet, very light tannins, a bit like spruce resin, then creamy, some white chocolate, with the time he is a little more lovely, the fruit note goes in the direction of shadow morels in pudding. All in all quite pleasant, alcohol well integrated
    • Taste
ok here is the light wood smoke, then sweet, cherry, creamy, again the white chocolate, light roasted aromas, behind harsh, wood
    • Finish
wow, in the back he gets really dry and harsh, almost pulls your mouth together, I chew on grape seeds, slightly nutty, the sweetness is gone, reminds me of a chewed headache tablet, not very pleasant

  7. Kaltduscher scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Fruity. Grape juice. Currant jelly. Blueberries. Marzipan. Wine gums. The wood smoke is very present and forms a nice contrast to the fruity notes. As a result, the malt looks very complex and complex. Nuts. Oak wood.
    • Taste
Surprisingly strong and spicy start. Sugared ginger. Grape juice. Blueberries. Smoked ham. Oak spice.
    • Finish
Medium. First of all again fruity. Then follows a bitter finish with a beautiful oak. Walnuts.
