    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Strong flavors unfold from my glass immediately after pouring. The high alcohol content (50%) is noticeable with a pleasant, cooling freshness, which fades slightly after a few minutes. Especially sweet, red fruits crave for attention, cherries, raspberries and some strawberries I perceive. Vanilla, honey, toasted almonds and chocolate (more milk chocolate) join. The tart-sourish character of blood oranges flashes and enhances the complex fruitiness.
    • Taste
Strong onset, very full-bodied and oily. At the beginning very saliva-stimulating with a dominant fruitiness (red berries). The omnipresent cherries are joined by plenty of chocolate, almonds, nuts and caramel. Subtle notes of a freshly brewed black coffee I associate after the second sip. Slightly spicy notes of wood with hints of cinnamon and cloves complete the taste profile. A slight dryness is already noticeable.
    • Finish
Medium. The red fruits rear up again and contrast very nicely with the vinous notes, which gradually cause a noticeable dryness with a slight bitterness. Cherries, chocolate, cinnamon and a pleasant oak flavor dominate the finish.

Nice dram! Most Arran wine cask finishes score above average in my book. 8-9 years 1st fill Bourbon and 6 months to 1 year finish work out great with the Arran spirit.
If only I had to give a more critical note I’d say this whisky is drawing within the lines on every part almost to perfectly, which could give a bit of a more ‘boring’ experience to one another. But I’m happy to have bought, and as we speak, finished a bottle.
    • Nose
Initialy Lots of Bourbon influences such as honey, vanilla, light oak wood and some corn. But after some time and a drop of water, the strength of the caskfinish kicks in! It gives a beautiful refined, subtle spicyness in a very mild and balanced way. Dark grapes and herbs take the nose to the next level. Splendid nose.
    • Taste
On the taste it’s quite similar. At first a lot of Bourbon influences dominate the palate. Sweet, soft and a slight dry bitterness. But again shortly after, there is more, way more. A full bodied and concentrated taste, with lots of subtle herbs and spices. It is well balanced and highly enjoyable. Again dark grapes and also apricote.
    • Finish
Quite a long finish. Again highly enjoyable and well balanced. There is a pleasant spirit note comming in. Nice, soft and sweet. The ‘young’ age reveals itself here. But then again, this is no negative. Instead I am quite impressed Arran was able to make such a result after a short period of time. I guess the amarone cask did it’s part big time!

Not the best in taste compared to Port Cask and Madeira Cask but the best in Finish. More years in Oak would be better for this. With Water he get to soft... but the Citrus come out.
    • Nose
Lovely. Fresh young Fruits maybe Lychee and a little bit Mustard. Little bit bubblegum. With a little time he give more sweet nuances and a little tabacaroma.
    • Taste
Oak. Normal sweet Fruit. Fast start. A little furry. Tingling on the tongue. Bubblegum.
    • Finish
Warming, with enough fruits and long-lasting in the mouth. Light fruits.

That will be difficult. Before that, I had a Bunnahabhain 13 Marsala 46.3%, which positively surprised me and offered about what I expected from this one (and knew his predecessors). And now this is despite its multi-percent weaker (and laxer than its predecessor - sucked Amarone barrels? Less finish time?)
Nevertheless, he is absolutely, in itself, a delicious whisky. Full, tasty, good barrel influence, for 45 € a fair deal.
But in relative terms, compared to its predecessors, it has unfortunately 'declined a whole corner.
    • Nose
the color has a clear rose tone, which is not shown in the scale, the nose is appropriately berry-fruity, raspberry, strawberry, a little bright cherry, to a light dry, woody spiciness and with a bit of imagination a bit Milk chocolate and brandy
(less powerful than a previously tasted 46.3% Bunnahabhain)
    • Taste
my notes on a previous bottling (2015):
"here too intense and full-bodied, dark chocolate, a little cherry jam, Sachertorte ... a lot of cocoa, the 50% spice and spiciness, walnut, also something reminiscent of maple syrup" everything fits, but a bit weaker, laxer, "washed out", the cherry goes down in the direction of watery strawberry, sweeter, less cocoa, more hazelnut than walnut, already full-bodied, but feels more like 46 than 50%
    • Finish
also here as a bar of the old:
"long and spicy, without being too spicy, cocoa, walnut, wood, without becoming too bitter ... beautiful" 25% less cocoa content, walnut becomes nut, but a bit more normal "bittersweet"

"That's supposed to be whisky?" One is almost inclined to ask. The color is very special and to see this Arran alone in the glass, a small experience. Overall, he is not over the top.

    • Nose
In the glass: light rosé wine, almost salmon-colored, legs running rapidly down the glass wall.

In the nose: Pureed berry compote with juicy blackberries, ripe strawberries, raspberries and cherries, cooling mint with menthol, sweet vanilla sugar, not the aromatic bourbon vanilla, but rather towards vanillin, a few mild spices, a delicate dull metal bucket (maybe younger than 10 years?) and with goodwill a little oak.
    • Taste
Slightly peppery on the nose, the fruit does not appear overloaded, spreads gently and gradually throughout the mouth, with a pleasant dryness of tannins, which does not astringent, a beautiful honey sweetness, a hint of aromatic-sweet long pepper, some clove and now also much more Oak as in the nose
    • Finish
In the warm finish dry oak with light fruit notes and wine aromas, a sweet Campino fruit candy will hang for a long time. The empty and slightly dried glass smells clearly of red wine.

    Absolute fruit bomb
    • Nose
Immediately full red wine aroma in the nose, no alcohol, very sweet, malty, vanilla, caramel, orange, some pear, coffee and chocolate.
    • Taste
Full fruit experience, red wine is extremely present, malt, sweet, 50% alcohol is well integrated, orange is also found in the taste.
    • Finish
Long and sweet aftertaste with red wine.

It's okay, but not overwhelming or something. Do I notice something from a Amarone wine? Not really, which is probably a good thing. Enjoyable to have the opportunity to get a taste of this, but I rather prefer other Arran bottlings.
    • Nose
      84 84
Fruity, some red fruits, spicy, full 'nose', raspberry, strawberry. Later on it's getting more sweet.
    • Taste
      84 84
Strong, pepper is developing along the way. Spicy, cinnamon, some chocolate, honey and oranges. Later on some peach as well.
    • Finish
      85 85
Still strong, pepper, warming, sweet, honey. Pretty long, later on also some peach.

I find this bottling unfortunately weaker than the previous version, it has distinguished by wonderful strawberry flavors. Nevertheless, it is and remains a good malt with a very good price-enjoyment ratio.
