  3. Portfolioman scored this whisky 74 points Expert Senior

unspectacular, suitable as an all-day dram, but otherwise disappointing, the best thing is the finish
a few more years in the barrel would have done him good
    • Nose
malty, alcoholic pungent, with a bit of sweetness behind it
after a while in the glass, the malty smell recedes and sherry notes gain the upper hand
    • Taste
      - Oily, strongly peppery, behind it sweet sherry notes, which combine with the oily basic tendency to syrup, but cannot prevail against the alcoholic sharpness, towards the end comes oak.
      - A longer dwell time in the glass improves the overall impression somewhat, as the alcoholic sharpness is somewhat reduced.
    • Finish
Quite short and warming, but some sherry sweetness lingers and leaves a (too) positive impression of the whisky in the mouth.

Blind tasting. Quite an odd experience with the nose on this one. Can be rather offputting to some
    • Nose
chlorine, sharp. Yeast, exhaust from a brewery
    • Taste
      dry
    • Finish
medium, still some heat in there

The first thing that hits you is a big vanilla and cereal note, is this really first fill sherry, it smells more like a bourbon cask?

On the palate it is sherry but very light and creamy (must have been Croft Original :)) a nice pineapple grapefruit not emerges and a little pepper, this certainly wakes your palate up.
I like Inchgower generally, it is one of the unloved gems of the whisky world.

I like this one, for the price it is worth a punt, the simplest of profiles but it works.
