    Orange, chocolate, smoke.

    Chocolate, smoke, orange.

    Smoke, orange, chocolate.

Simple, easily quaffable, but only if you are up to that.

Works well together with... (surprise, drum roll....) orange chocolate.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

One of my absolute PLV favorites, what better can I not find for 35 € / l.
Medium, cool smoke with fine sweetness, dark chocolate, a hint of dark berries (blackberry, elderberry), a hint of walnut.
Of course there is still no elegance and the most intense is not 40%, but you can tell what's going to happen later.

    Feast with meat and dessert!

Fried meat! Smoked sausage, cooked vegetables, laurel, black pepper, smoke, electrical wiring, medicines, bandage, peanuts, cookies, Napoleon cake, black chocolate, strawberries!

    3cl sample.

Potentially a dram that helps your liver, as it is rather for nosing not really for drinking, considering what is still out there in whisky world.
As this is usually taken on a plane, why not just bottle the air enriched by the nice nose in a light container and save kerosine by getting rid of the weight of the whisky and the bottle.
I think Bowmore could do much better things with their whisky than this.

Hope I'd recognize the nose immediately as Bowmore in a blind tasting. The uniquely peat, smoke, sherry, wood, orange combination that their sherry casks normally produce.
    • Taste
      82 82
I knew it had to go downhill after the nose at this strength. It does. Strangest feeling that I can taste the tab water in this one to reduce its strength. The water sadly washes away the textbook Bowmore taste.
    • Finish
      80 80
More downhill in record time. Bland sweetness on a short goodbye. On this account, it probably caters well to the travellers tongue.

A marge of sherry and peat. As for Intense, it's lacking in power, and it's not particularly Dark. Another whisky worth having as a choice for everyday drinking

Honest and easy drum with a sherry background.
    Sweet, nicely peated and gentle.
Maybe the fact to taste it at Bowmore dram bar I front of the sea on a sunny day contributed with some extra points.

Aroma: iodine, seaweed thrown on the beach and dried in the sun, caramel, honey, decaying bonfire, sweetness of dates mixed with smoke, dried fruits, cardboard.
Taste: honey, caramel with salt, dried fruits, smoked meats, bitterness from grapefruit and some delicate white pepper.
Finish: sweet compote of dried fruit, ashen, slightly citrus peel, shorter than average.
    Rating: 83
Bottom line: for the new DF line, a quite good initial level has been set, all the more, the age indication has pleased! Bouumo is not as extreme as its southern neighbors on the island, but it has its own recognizable face. The sherry influence here fit in quite well, added a certain zest, but some whisky is too simple, especially the taste and finish is a bit short. In general, a good base Islay molt, with sherry influence, for its price.
