    Orange, chocolate, smoke.

    Chocolate, smoke, orange.

    Smoke, orange, chocolate.

Simple, easily quaffable, but only if you are up to that.

Works well together with... (surprise, drum roll....) orange chocolate.

A vinous earth, crushed grapes, wood chips. The smoke and peat are muted, a bit dusty, the sherry is darker and deeper than usual. Nice balance. A hint of honey, which really awakens in the mouth. It's light, a little peppery, earthy and maderized. The liquor must be kept in the mouth for a while for it to reveal itself, with apricot, grapes and plum. Quite strong finish, not too short, dry earth, hints of smoke, charcoal in retro-olfaction.
At less than 40 euros, it's a bargain.

One of my absolute PLV favorites, what better can I not find for 35 € / l.
Medium, cool smoke with fine sweetness, dark chocolate, a hint of dark berries (blackberry, elderberry), a hint of walnut.
Of course there is still no elegance and the most intense is not 40%, but you can tell what's going to happen later.

Not that maritime, quite leathery but a pretty good mouth feeling

Seabreeze, seaweed, some iodine, old sherry wood, hints of new leather couch, whiffs of smoke
    • Taste
      84 84
Very oily, creamy, subtle sweetness, nutty, little liquorice, little dried fruits, sherry wood, milk chocolate, hints of leather, little citirc, little smoky, hints of cooked oranges

      82 82
      Medium long, warm

    Okay but too thin overall.
    Typical, sherry-heavy Bowmore ...

This Bowmore is very elegant and the wood maturation is a very good combination. The only thing I would change, I would increase the abv to 46%
    • Nose
      86 86
Very gentle but complex with notes of dark fruits, sweetness, and in my opinion lightly smoked ham, the peat and smoke is noticed but softer as for example at a Ardbeg 10, Lagavulin 16 or Laphroaig 10. I also sense well matured wood.
    • Taste
      85 85
In my opinion this Bowmore is oily, the dark fruits and the sweetness are very pleasant noticeable, lightly peat and smoke
    • Finish
      84 84
Unfortunately the finish is a bit short because of the low abv. Lightly peated and smoked, dark fruits, sweetness and again the smoked ham

  7. Malzbrenner scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

A dram with friends in a cozy atmosphere, unfortunately colored and with 40% vol. At the lower limit. But it should only be fun and the dram fulfills that in an uncomplicated way.

Slightly maritime smoke, sweetness, sherry aromas, dark fruits, honey. In the nose he does everything right and is clearly recognizable as a Bowmore. Really impressive for a ten year old in this price range.
    • Taste
      84 84
Smoky-sweet on the palate and with a peppery sharpness. Herbs and liquorice are also found. The aromas are not particularly pronounced, but overall the Bowmore is quite pleasing and drinkable.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium length with sweetness and pepper on the palate, light bitter notes and some smoke. A little weak in the finish.

A nice whisky for a cozy chat for friends, the sweetness of sherry, the light "tar" and the smoke finish it off nicely.
Nice long finish, pleasant! price / quality = OK

Technically, of course, a mature drop, but for me everything is too intense and superficial. In particular, the nose wanders from exciting to penetrating down the scale of points, because the omnipresent tar on cardboard and the carbonized cigar box are always too dominant for me and also stay on the palate for an uncomfortably long time.
    • Nose
      88 88
Dark caramel brown runs into cumbersome, oily church windows almost like honey in the glass. It was definitely not filtered here, small and medium-sized suspended particles are clearly visible. The first nose is also heavy: the distinctive tannins of a charred cigar box or an old cupboard, resin and almost tar mix with brown sugar, sticky forest honey and then also no fruit basket - or rather rum pot with pickled cherries, prunes, candied oranges and Raisins in Malaga ice cream. The impression remains extremely intense with more air, oily and waxy, more and more old cardboard, coffee beans and then a bit more herbal with ginger, lavender and coconut shell.
    • Taste
      75 75
A bit bitter, heavy, but also sweet again, the malt continues to greet the palate in a very "dark" manner. The cigar box is back with slight burn marks, old cardboard and the forest honey as well, together with malty herb candies and a pinch of cinnamon. The fruit of prunes and candied oranges is hidden in the background with the anticipated Malaga ice cream. What amazes me is that with all the strength and heaviness, there is hardly any alcohol to be felt.
    • Finish
      73 73
A couple of matchstick heads give a hint of sulfur notes in the finish, with a little waxy licorice, malt candies, cooled tar on the road construction site and cedar wood with a slight acidity and a few dates on the grill for a little while longer.
