Bold old classic sherry influence that reminds you of good old days back in 60s and whisky experts in Japan speculates the distillery as one of the following:
Macallan / Glendronach / Glenfarclaus / Glen Garioch
The character and sherry profile definitely reminds me of old Speyside Macallan but obviously no proof on this but understand why this is sold at north of gbp 900.
Each individual bottles were hand blown with waxed cork but still doesn't prevent the leak as often see cork drop. I've tried several bottles and the taste were highly dependant to the cork condition.
Quality sherry, dried raisin,, black sugar, wood, with bitter chocolate at the end. Tad of ginger and dried leaf at the finish.
Despite of the very old 43%, it feels stronger with mid/long finish. Impressive
